Lead Cloud FinOps ArchitectThe Lead Cloud FinOps Architect is responsible for developing, maintaining, and supporting the cost management practices of the cloud services. This role will lead, develop, and implement the processes and capabilities required that ensure costs optimization. The Lead Cloud FinOps Architect is expected to possess excellent interpersonal, communication and listening skills necessary to effectively collaborate with key stakeholders across the organization.Principal Duties And ResponsibilitiesProvide subject matter expertise in all FinOps aspects of public cloud services, as well as review and approve deployment of new instances & systems within Cloud environmentsCollaborate with technology teams to incorporate cost management best practices into cloud platforms via tagging, alerting and configurations that supports financial monitoring of cloud platformsCreate and oversee a cloud billing dashboard to track, manage and optimize cloud costs and Reserved Instance purchasesBuild a dashboard that provides secure selfservice capabilities to all teams on cloud spendEstablish KPIs to track progress and success of transformation and optimization opportunitiesLead regular cadence with Finance, Sr.
leaders and technical peers providing expert advice on cloud financial management activitiesAlso responsible for reporting, escalating, and remediating system alerts based on the established processesProvide summaries and detailed usage statistics on costs for resources across public clouds environments, offering actionable intelligence to rightsize and scale services efficientlyCreating operational metrics to demonstrate costs and usage and assist with tracking for key stakeholdersParticipate in integrated and new systems planning and provide cost forecasts for implementation details for cloud governance processesServe as expert on Cloud costingEngineer and advance observability and cloud financial management capabilities in alignment with our cloud strategy, including utilization reports, dashboard, monitoring, cost usage alerting, and forecastingPartner with Architecture, Engineering, and Finance to advise on workload and resource optimization, waste management, capacity management, KPI development and maintenance, tagging and alertsDrive savings opportunities related to cloud commitment purchases (reserved instances, savings plans, spot, committed/sustained use, etc.) and partner with Finance to track utilization of these commitmentsIdentify usage patterns and contextualize them with budgeted assumptions and business needs to inform forecasts and decisioningLeverage discount vehicles to optimize our cloud infrastructure costs and drive efficiencyProactive identification of opportunities to drive business value and lead the engineering and implementation of innovative technology solutionsProactively generates management information for each responsible areas technologiesOptimization strategies, Operating Guidelines/Principles, and Services/SolutionsDevelop self-service tools and processes to enable service owners to understand and self-manage their capacity, efficiency, and costsManage areas of spend at the company by balancing high utilization and cost efficiency of our infrastructure with risk and developer velocity.Strategic planning for organic growth and infrastructure impact of new project and architecture changesPerform other job related duties as requestedMinimum Requirements5+ years developing and operating infrastructure, public cloud environments, finance or IT infrastructure / platforms role or related experienceBachelors degree in Information Systems, Business or a related field, or equivalent experiencePreferredPrevious experience working with vendors and performing contract analysisStrong understanding of technical software engineering conceptsExperience with AWS cloud environments preferredExperience with cloud telemetry tools preferred (CloudWatch, Datadog etc.)Prior working knowledge of the pricing and consumption models in at least one of the major public cloud providers and experience with market leading cloud cost products (e.g. Flexera RightScale, ServiceNow, CloudHealth or CloudCheckr) preferredCertifications, Licenses, RegistrationsGaming Registration card and/or license in relevant jurisdictions.Knowledge, Skills, And AbilitiesProficient knowledge of AWS dashboardsKnowledge of financial reporting and product roadmap processesAbility to learn various computer systems quicklyAble to make decisions and work independentlyMust be able to manage numerous projects simultaneously at various stages of developmentEstablish and maintain an effective working relationship with leadership and peersMust have strong interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with business partnersStrong communication skills, including the ability to articulate complex technical topics to a nontechnical audience (including senior leadership)Experience working with AWS cloud platform
