Lead Client Advisor

A boutique, independent fiduciary wealth management firm is seeking a Lead Client Advisor to join its growing team in Scottsdale, Arizona. This is an opportunity for an experienced wealth management professional to assume responsibility for an established client portfolio, lead a dedicated service team, and potentially advance into a Senior Advisor role with their own team over time.

About the Company

The firm specializes in providing personalized financial planning and wealth management services to high-net-worth individuals, families, and business owners. With approximately $405 million in assets under management, the firm emphasizes long-term client relationships, comprehensive financial planning, collaboration, and integrity. Its team-based service model allows advisors to work closely with investment professionals, associate advisors, and practice coordinators to deliver a high level of personalized service.

Responsibilities

  • Day-to-Day Responsibilities
  • Assume responsibility for approximately 75–100 existing high-net-worth client households, serving as the primary relationship manager and trusted financial planning resource.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships by proactively addressing questions, identifying financial needs, and delivering personalized, high-quality service.
  • Conduct comprehensive financial assessments covering assets, liabilities, cash flow, investment portfolios, and long-term financial objectives.
  • Develop customized wealth management strategies aligned with each client's goals, risk tolerance, financial circumstances, and preferences.
  • Analyze investment portfolios and collaborate with the investment team on asset allocation, diversification, implementation, and portfolio optimization.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive financial plans addressing retirement planning, estate planning, tax optimization, risk management, and wealth transfer strategies.
  • Conduct regular portfolio reviews, monitor investment performance, and communicate recommendations and financial updates clearly to clients.
  • Identify opportunities to deepen existing client relationships through additional planning services, increased assets under management, and referrals from current clients and their families. This is a relationship-development opportunity, not a traditional new-business or cold-prospecting role.
  • Mentor and guide the Associate Advisor and Practice Coordinator while collaborating with investment research, operations, and compliance teams.
  • Coordinate with external professionals, including CPAs, tax advisors, and estate planning attorneys, to deliver comprehensive financial solutions.
  • Use financial planning and wealth management technology to manage client relationships, develop plans, analyze portfolios, and prepare client reports.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.

Required Skills

  • 7+ years of financial planning experience, with substantial experience in wealth management and preferably serving high-net-worth individuals and families.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage or co-manage a substantial book of established client relationships and deliver a high level of personalized service.
  • Strong knowledge of investment strategies, financial markets, wealth management products, tax considerations, retirement planning, estate planning, and wealth transfer strategies.
  • Experience developing comprehensive financial plans and translating complex financial concepts into clear, practical recommendations clients can understand.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to build trust quickly, set realistic expectations, follow through on commitments, and maintain long-term client relationships.
  • Understanding of financial services compliance requirements, regulatory standards, and fiduciary responsibilities.
  • Leadership and mentoring capabilities, with the ability to guide an Associate Advisor and Practice Coordinator within a collaborative team structure.
  • Familiarity with financial planning and portfolio management technology. Experience with eMoney or MoneyGuidePro is a plus; Salesforce, Orion, YCharts, Holistiplan, Fidelity Wealthscape, and Schwab platforms are also relevant.
  • Professional integrity, accountability, attention to detail, and a service-oriented mindset are essential.
  • Candidates should have a consistent record of delivering on commitments and maintaining strong client relationships.

Preferred Skills

  • Preferred
  • CFP® certification or Series 65; CFA® designation; experience mentoring junior advisors; and a portable book of business, although bringing an existing book is not required.
