This Lead Chronic Disease Epidemiologist position in the South Carolina Department of Public Health's Bureau of Chronic Disease and Injury Prevention serves as a premier epidemiologist providing data leadership on chronic diseases, risk factors, and social determinants of health. The role develops surveillance strategies, creates data products like dashboards and infographics, provides epidemiological guidance to junior staff, and supports funding opportunities and health assessments. Based in Lexington County, this full-time position reports to the Bureau of Chronic Disease and Injury Prevention.
Key qualifications
- Master's degree in Public Health, epidemiology, biostatistics, or closely related field with relevant working experience
- At least three years of experience in epidemiologic research in a public health setting
- Experience with chronic disease surveillance systems (BRFSS, US Census, SC Central Cancer Registry)
- Experience with data analysis software such as SAS, STATA, or Excel
- Experience developing and presenting chronic disease materials to diverse audiences
