Job Title
Responsibilities: Utilize the Teaching Family Model to teach youth social skills. This includes preventive teaching, effective praise, corrective teaching, intensive teaching (tantrum management), self government (house meetings, green cards, peer manager, problem solving), motivation systems (point card management, facilitating tally up). Use only approved Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) when engaging in physical crisis intervention. The lead BI will usually act as the team leader in physical interventions. Follow all policies and procedures. Abides by departmental attendance policy. Complete all required documentation on time and accurately according to policies. This includes but may not be limited to: transition notes, critical incident reports, restraint/seclusion forms, observation and rounds, treatment plans, fire and disaster drills, security checklists. Use consultation services to seek and implement feedback. Communicate effectively with supervisors and treatment team. Maintain a professional and positive attitude. Maintain current employee requirements (annual orientation, CPR, 1st Aid, CPI, S&R, etc.). Complete required annual in-service hours as specified by RTC policy. Keep all work areas neat and clean. Provide guidance to the youth resulting in them keeping their areas neat and clean. (May require lifting) Provide on-sight supervision, guidance, and feedback if necessary, to other BIs in collaboration with the consultant. Complete other related tasks as assigned by supervisors.
Qualifications
At least twenty-one (21) years of age. College Graduate preferred. A minimum of 60 hours required. Ability to document accurately and professionally. Possesses the ability to understand and implement extensive training and to apply that training to the implementation of a comprehensive program of care for patients. Ability to perform physical demands required by Crisis Prevention Intervention Training. Experience working with "at-risk" youth or other populations with special needs preferred. Ability as a self-motivator and the aptitude to work in a high stress fast paced position with a minimal amount of supervision. Possess a valid Arkansas Driver's License. Must be eligible to be insured to drive MFH vehicles. Must be physically capable to receive verbal and written directions. Must be willing and able to work with all patients of Methodist Family Health, regardless of gender. Must be certified in the Teaching Family Model. Must have good auditory, visual and olfactory ability. Requires the ability to sit and stand for long periods of time and intermittently walk, stand, stoop, kneel, crouch and reach with hands and arms. Use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools or controls. Must be able to maintain effective audio, visual discrimination and perception needed for making observations, communicating with others, and reading and writing, and operating office equipment and other treatment equipment. Must be able to use a telephone to communicate verbally and a computer to communicate through written means, to review information and enter/retrieve data, to see and read characters on a computer screen, chart or other treatment items. Requires the strength and stamina to perform clinical duties. Flu vaccination is mandatory and required for all positions (subject only to qualified exemptions). This position is a designated safety-sensitive position according to MFH/MCH/MBH standards and processes Level One - Full Access: Ongoing regular access to PHI of all forms while the employee is on duty and performing within the scope of his or her job as defined by the employee's job description, and Policy and Procedure.
Education:
Required: High School or better.
Preferred: Some college or better.
