Lawn and Garden Associate (Full-Time)

Inventories, stores, prices, loads, and restocks merchandise in retail store by performing the following duties; must deal directly with customers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Takes inventory or examines merchandise to identify items to be replenished; receives, opens, and unpacks cartons or crates of merchandise, checking invoice against items received; attaches or changes price tags on shelves and/or merchandise; stocks storage areas and displays with new or transferred merchandise; sets up advertising signs and displays merchandise on shelves, counters, or tables to attract customers and promote sales; cleans display cases, shelves, and aisles; packs customer purchases in bags or cartons; transports purchases to specified vehicle for customer.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is frequently required to talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places and outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme cold and extreme heat. The noise level is the work environment is usually moderate.

Requirements

A functional understanding of botanical principles, regional plant varieties, and soil amendments is preferred, but not required. Must be available on weekends.
