Laser Operator – 1st ShiftKSM Industries is looking for a skilled Laser Operator to join our 1st shift team. In this role, you'll program, set up, and operate advanced laser cutting equipment to produce high-quality sheet metal parts—including short-run and custom jobs. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys precision work, problem-solving, and working independently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.What You'll DoSet up, operate, and adjust computer-controlled laser cutting machines and material loaders/unloadersProgram and create laser nests to meet production schedules and optimize material usageInspect parts throughout production using calipers, squares, rulers, and other measuring toolsTroubleshoot machine alarms and make adjustments (program changes, optics cleaning, head alignment, focus, etc.)Perform basic machine maintenance and assist with equipment upkeepSupport material handling using forklifts, cranes, and other shop equipment as neededPrepare materials and assist with secondary operations such as grinding and finishingMaintain quality standards by completing first-piece, in-process, and final inspections per QC requirementsWork independently while making sound decisions on setup, adjustments, and production challengesWhat We're Looking For3–5 years of experience in laser cutting or similar CNC/metal fabrication environmentStrong understanding of laser cutting principles, practices, and production processesAbility to read and interpret blueprints, BOMs, and part drawingsExperience with NC code and laser nesting softwareStrong shop math skills (typically equivalent to 4 years of high school or vocational training)Comfortable working with computers and manufacturing software systemsStrong attention to detail and commitment to qualityAbility to work independently with general supervisionWhy Join KSM Industries?Stable 1st shift scheduleHands-on, skilled manufacturing environmentOpportunity to work on diverse, custom, and short-run projectsSupportive team with strong focus on quality and craftsmanshipIf you're a detail-oriented machinist or laser operator who enjoys precision work and taking ownership of your results, we'd like to hear from you.
