Job Description

Within the Business Development team, you will play a key role in evaluating, developing, and optimizing biogas valorization projects. In close collaboration with internal teams, clients, and landfill partners, you will provide technical expertise throughout the project lifecycle, from opportunity analysis to performance monitoring of operational installations.

  • For development projects:
    • Conduct technical audits and preliminary checks for new projects, including site visits, biogas generation modeling, evaluation of gas collection and control systems, and analysis of existing infrastructures.
    • Develop 20-year biogas valorization scenarios to assess production potential, future gas collection system needs, required infrastructures, and project economics.
    • Evaluate OPEX/CAPEX needs, technical constraints, and gas collection system development requirements to support project viability, risk analysis, and investment decisions.
    • Prepare structured technical reports, models, and recommendations to document findings, support decisions, and prioritize project development.
    • Support commercial development efforts by providing technical input to opportunities, maintaining strong client relationships, and offering practical recommendations to clients, internal leaders, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • For operational or construction projects:
    • Diagnose the performance of gas collection and control systems, biogas generation, and WAGABOX® efficiency through field observations, data analysis, and comparison of actual results with pro forma assumptions and performance objectives.
    • Perform or support well adjustments, operational diagnostics, and field tests to identify practical improvements for increasing methane capture, renewable natural gas production, and WAGABOX® performance.
    • Implement effective field solutions in collaboration with landfill site owners, operators, clients, and internal teams, and ensure rigorous follow-up on corrective actions.
    • Support initiatives for emission reduction, methane mitigation, and regulatory compliance related to biogas management and renewable natural gas production.
    • Structure field findings, corrective actions, and performance follow-ups in clear reports and action plans shared with site owners, operators, clients, and internal teams.

This position requires regular travel to landfill sites to conduct audits, diagnostics, field observations, well adjustment follow-ups, and implementation support across Canada. Possibility of remote work or on-site at the headquarters in Shawinigan. Objective: maximize gas capture, reduce development risks, and deliver predictable renewable natural gas performance.

Primary missions are in French for Quebec sites and in English for non-Quebec sites to easily communicate with English-speaking clients and suppliers, as well as other subsidiaries. A good command of English is essential.

Initial education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering (environmental, process, mechanical, biochemical, or related field), or experienced technician with strong field expertise and design of biogas collection systems.

Experience: Minimum of 3 to 5 years in waste management, landfill operations, biogas collection systems, or related infrastructures.
