Lake Compounce, a family‑held themed attractions company, is hiring a Scare Actor for the Phantom Fall Fest.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Entertain guests with frightening, realistic performances throughout scheduled shifts.
  • Remain in character, walking, running, making noises, changing posture, or using props as required.
  • Effectively scare guests moving through the park’s scare zones.
  • Greet and interact with all guests in the scariest manner possible.
  • Maintain self‑control, restraint, and awareness to minimize situations in which a guest may become overly scared.
  • Keep a safe environment by maintaining an arm’s distance from each guest, keeping escape routes clear, and following safety standards.
  • Use a variety of props, lights, or noise makers to enhance the scare experience.
  • Keep the work area clean and safe.
  • Comply with all park policies, procedures, and labor laws.
  • Monitor assigned areas, quickly identify and report any safety hazards or risks.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.

  • Attend and pass one audition on any of the following dates:
    • Friday, 7/17/2026 – 6:00pm
    • Sunday, 7/19/2026 – 6:00pm
    • Friday, 7/24/2026 – 6:00pm
    • Sunday, 7/26/2026 – 6:00pm
    • Friday, 7/31/2026 – 6:00pm
    • Sunday, 8/2/2026 – 6:00pm
  • Attend mandatory character training (if selected):
    • Friday, 8/28 – 5:30pm to 8:30pm: PFF Orientation & Scare Safety 101
    • Sunday, 9/6 – Makeup Training (Makeup artists only)
    • Tuesday, 9/8 – 5:30pm to 8:30pm: Scare Zone Group Rehearsals
    • Wednesday, 9/9 – 4:30pm to 7:30pm: Daytime Session
    • Thursday, 9/10 – 5:30pm to 8:30pm: “mAlice” and Bloodcraft
    • Friday, 9/11 – 5:30pm to 8:30pm: Malignant, MedEvil, and Project Nightmare
    • Wednesday, 9/16 – 4:30pm to 7:30pm: Daytime Dress Rehearsal
    • Thursday, 9/17 – 4:00pm to 9:30pm: First Dress Rehearsal
    • Friday, 9/18 – 4:00pm to 9:30pm: Final Dress Rehearsal
  • Performance dates (selected from the list below):
    • Saturday, 9/19 & Sunday, 9/20
    • Saturday, 9/26 & Sunday, 9/27
    • Friday, 10/2; Saturday, 10/3; Sunday, 10/4

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Must be 16 years or older to comply with Connecticut child labor laws.
  • Must successfully pass audition and attend character training.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak fluent English; bilingual skills in Spanish or another language are a plus.
  • Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and optional Halloween event days.
  • Ability to work 20+ hours per week when needed.
  • Reliable transportation to and from work.
  • Compliance with grooming standards, uniform, and costume requirements.
  • Ability to remain in character throughout performance.
  • Strong cardio endurance, physical storytelling, and performance energy.
  • Playful, outgoing, friendly, and guest‑centric attitude.
  • Effective verbal and non‑verbal acting and communication skills.
  • Ability to follow direction, multitask, and work as part of a fast‑paced team.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to stand, walk, and remain on feet for the majority of the workday.
  • Must be able to wear assigned costume for extended periods.
  • Must frequently stoop, twist, kneel, bend, squat, or reach above shoulders.
  • Must perform in costumes that may have limited sight lines.
  • Must carry, push, pull, lift, and hold objects weighing 30lb or more.

Working Conditions

  • Frequent exposure to outdoor and indoor park areas.
  • Exposure to extreme warm or cold temperatures during autumn months.
  • Variable outside temperatures (heat, cold, sun, humidity, dust, rain, snow, ice).
  • Frequent interruptions, repetitive motion, high noise levels, flashing lights, strobe lights, dark and shadowy environments, and heavily populated areas.
