Laboratory Team Leader – Greenville, N.C.

This position is 100% on‑site at the Greenville facility. The Laboratory Team Leader will lead laboratory personnel in daily activities providing coaching and feedback to team members. The role supports pre‑commercial and commercial processes and projects for oral solid dosage forms, ensuring high‑quality data generation, regulatory compliance, and efficient project execution.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, guide and oversee learning and development needs for a team of approximately three to six scientists and laboratory personnel at various levels.
  • Develop and manage performance of direct reports, including training, coaching and mentoring.
  • Lead the development of a climate of quality and safety by identifying and monitoring quality and safety standards.
  • Ensure all work is performed and documented according to approved standard operating procedures, in general compliance with cGMPs and in a timely manner consistent with agreed‑upon schedules.
  • Maintain proficiency in process and data review within the respective scientific field of operation, and troubleshoot instrument, method and technique‑related issues.
  • Manage projects and serve as analytical representative for internal and external clients, including commercial and pre‑commercial entities and CMOs.
  • Author and review analytical procedures, validation documents and portions of regulatory submissions for site pre‑commercial and commercial projects related to analytical work.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Biotechnology, Chemistry or equivalent science degree with nine years of professional experience in pharmaceutical analytical chemistry, OR
  • BS or BA degree in a science‑related field (e.g. Biology, Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences) with eight years of professional experience in pharmaceutical analytical chemistry, OR
  • Master’s degree in a science‑related field with six years of professional experience in pharmaceutical analytical chemistry, OR
  • PhD in a science‑related field with four years of relevant experience in pharmaceutical analytical chemistry.
  • Strongly preferred: at least one year of experience with people leadership and project management that is client‑facing.

Physical Requirements

The position requires the ability to lift 10–50lb unassisted. The majority of the work day is performed while standing, walking, lifting, pulling and pushing, with required bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, and reaching. Some exposure to hazardous chemical and other active chemical ingredients. Requires effective communication using speech, vision and hearing.
