Role Overview
The Clinical Laboratory Supervisor for Specimen Collection and Processing oversees daily phlebotomy and specimen processing operations in a high-volume, community-focused laboratory.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise staffing, workload distribution, and ensure accurate, timely specimen collection, labeling, receipt, processing, and distribution.
- Provide leadership to the Phlebotomy and Processing Coordinators and their teams, promoting compliance with CAP, CLIA, and hospital standards.
- Maintain specimen quality, adhere to turnaround times, and initiate corrective actions as needed.
- Train, mentor, and evaluate staff; update SOPs for compliance and standardization.
- Participate in quality assurance, process improvements, and inspection readiness.
- Manage equipment maintenance, supply inventory, and budget; assist in hiring and onboarding.
- Collaborate with clinical departments to optimize collection procedures and ensure positive patient interactions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s desirable.
- Supervision experience required; five years as a medical technologist preferred.
- Experience with word processing and spreadsheets mandatory; lab marketing/sales experience a plus.
- ASCP registration as a Medical Technologist is desirable but not required.
Compensation & Benefits
