Phlebotomy Coordinator

The Phlebotomy Coordinator is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the operations of the clinical laboratory phlebotomy and processing area. This role involves managing staffing, work assignments, and ensuring that phlebotomy procedures are carried out accurately and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Organize and coordinate the overall operation of the phlebotomy and processing area.
  • Manage staffing and assign work duties to phlebotomists, laboratory assistants, and interns.
  • Develop, implement, and update policies, procedures, and protocols to enhance workflow and efficiency.
  • Strengthen blood borne pathogen protection and safety measures.
  • Ensure timely delivery of accurate phlebotomy services.
  • Act as a liaison among phlebotomy staff, laboratory personnel, physicians, patients, families, and other hospital staff.
  • Adhere to all applicable local, state, and federal regulations and policies to ensure privacy and safety in patient care.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in phlebotomy and laboratory operations.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Knowledge of relevant regulations and best practices in phlebotomy and laboratory safety.
