Phlebotomist

Responsibilities
- Draw blood samples from patients of all ages, including pediatric and geriatric populations, following established procedures and safety standards
- Prepare and label specimens accurately for laboratory testing
- Explain procedures to patients to create a comfortable and trusting environment
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of collections
- Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean, professional environment
- Demonstrate leadership behaviors by focusing on process excellence and confidentiality
- Perform both clinical and forensic specimen collection and processing duties
- Ensure timely completion of daily tasks under the supervision of the area supervisor
Required Skills
- Excellent phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric collections
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Accurate keyboard and data entry capabilities
- Ability to perform efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Attention to detail and commitment to error-free work
Additional Skills & Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Phlebotomy certification preferred (required in California, Nevada, and Washington)
- Medical assistant or paramedic training preferred
- Minimum of 6 months of phlebotomy experience required; over one year preferred
- Customer service experience in a retail or service environment preferred
- Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime as needed
- Additional certifications or training in healthcare is a plus
