Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with faculty to support the operational needs of teaching and research labs in the OEMS department.
  • Conduct routine maintenance and troubleshooting of lab equipment to ensure all machinery is in good working condition.
  • Manage the procurement process for lab supplies and equipment, including vendor communication, purchase orders, and inventory management.
  • Work closely with the Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) department to implement and maintain safety protocols and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements in all OEMS labs.
  • Assist in the setup and takedown of lab experiments and equipment as required by faculty and student research projects.
  • Coordinate with IT and facilities management for any lab infrastructure and technology needs.
  • Provide training and guidance to students and staff on equipment usage and safety procedures.
  • Keep detailed records of equipment maintenance, purchases, and safety inspections.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Bachelor's degree in ocean engineering, marine sciences or a related field.
  • Minimum of 0-2 years of relevant work experience.
  • Computer skills: Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Outlook) (Required).
  • Strong technical background and expertise in ocean engineering and marine sciences.
  • Previous experience in lab management or a related technical leadership role.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Knowledge of engineering modeling tools, software, and machinery.
  • Technical and hands‑on experience with lab equipment.
  • Ability to repair small equipment problems.
  • Familiarity with safety protocols and compliance regulations related to lab environments.
