The Fayetteville VAMC is a Complexity Level 1C Medical Center and is authorized 58 general medical, surgical, and mental health beds. It also maintains a 69-bed long-term care unit. Recent expansion projects include: 260,000 sq. ft. Health Care Center in Fayetteville opened November 2015, 15,000 sq. ft.
replacement CBOC in Jacksonville opened January 2016, plus a 10,000 sq. ft. CBOC in Sanford opened May 2016.Objective 1 - Provide support for clinical studies.Task 1 – Contractor shall help clinical studies nurse with recruiting potential study subjects, to include collecting basic medical history to facilitate the clinical studies nurse's/physician's determination of initial eligibility for participating in study protocols. Contractor shall help clinical studies nurse educate potential enrollees about study protocol(s) and answer questions regarding participation in the study.Task 2 – Contractor shall obtain specimens via venipuncture. Contractor shall perform specimen handling and processing, to include but not limited to pipetting, aliquoting, and storing or shipping such samples to external collaborators. Contractor shall maintain inventory of research specimens and detailed audit tracking movement of specimens.Task 3 – Contractor shall inform Principal Investigator and/or his/her designee of abnormal testing values or other issues requiring attention, and facilitate subject follow-up.Objective 2 – Maintain clinical study records in accordance with regulations.Task 1 – Contractor shall assist research nurse with maintaining complete and accurate research participant records.Task 2 – Contractor shall assist research nurse with securely maintaining all research records in compliance with research regulations and Institutional Review Board approved research protocols.Task 3 – Contractor shall enter and review data for accuracy and completeness.
Contractor shall assist with quality control reviews of all data generated by research protocols.Objective 3 – Assist with preparing and submitting documentation and correspondence to remain in compliance with research regulations.Task 1 – Contractor shall assist investigators and study nurse with reporting of adverse events, continuing reviews/annual progress reports, protocol amendments, clearance of publications and various other protocol documents as required.Task 2 – Contractor shall assist with audits by institutional clinical investigations departments and higher leadership.Objective 4 – Assist with development of new clinical investigations protocols and addenda to existing protocols.Task 1 – Contractor shall assist investigators with writing laboratory focused sections of new study protocols and developing budgets, including but not limited to researching costs of laboratory and shipping supplies. Contractor shall perform other duties in support of new projects as required.Objective 5 – Assist with technical reports, presentations, and peer-reviewed publications.Task 1 – Contractor shall assist with providing laboratory data for tables and graphs for presentations, posters, and publications. Contractor will assist with writing reports and publications summarizing study outcomes and findings.Objective 6 – Provide support for laboratory requirements of clinical investigations.Task 1 – Contractor shall assist with handling, processing, storage, transport, and shipping of study and clinical laboratory specimens.Task 2 – Contractor shall coordinate and perform specimen transfers between research and clinical laboratory sites.Task 3 – Contractor shall perform of complex and technical tasks and procedures using general and specialized laboratory skills, as required by research protocols.Task 4 – Contractor shall enter specimen related data into the Government provided Specimen Tracker module. Contractor shall perform inventory of clinical and research specimens, and will maintain audit trail of all shipments, transfers, and disposal of specimens in Specimen Tracker.Task 5 – Contractor shall maintain laboratory cleanliness and ensures proper disposal of bio-hazardous waste material as appropriate.
