KCPC Nurse Manager

Overview

Psychiatric Nurse Manager who will practice psychiatric‑mental health nursing. Provides clinical supervision of LPNs, RNs, charge nurses, and non‑licensed nursing staff in the holistic care and treatment of patients including psychiatric and medical needs. Assists with hiring and onboarding within the nursing department. Nurse supervisors may function as liaison with educational institutions, coordinating student tours and practicum placement. This professional nurse shall possess specialized knowledge, skills, and abilities obtained through education and experience in caring for persons with behavioral health needs, psychiatric disorders, co‑occurring psychiatric and substance abuse disorders.

Responsibilities

Expectations include participation in the following activities:

• Assessment, nursing diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementing, coordination of care
• Health teaching and health promotion of a unique patient population
• Counseling (individual and group counseling)
• Safety management of the therapeutic milieu in a secure forensic facility
• Provide counseling interventions including communication and interviewing techniques; problem‑solving activities, crisis intervention, stress management, supportive skill building and educational groups, relaxation techniques, assertiveness training, and conflict resolution

Qualifications

Specialized knowledge, skills, and abilities obtained through education and experience in caring for persons with behavioral health needs, psychiatric disorders, co‑occurring psychiatric and substance abuse disorders.
