Junior SQL Database Administrator

Role overview

This entry-level database administration position supports the IT Infrastructure team in maintaining Microsoft SQL Server environments across development, test, and production settings. The role offers exposure to Oracle database administration as well, building a foundation for a career in enterprise data management. The hire will collaborate with IT leadership, application teams, and system engineers to safeguard database performance, availability, and security.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and maintain SQL Server databases, performing backups, restores, integrity checks, and index maintenance
• Assist with database provisioning, configuration, and patch management across multiple environments
• Track database performance, identify bottlenecks, and troubleshoot connectivity issues
• Support SQL Server upgrades, migrations, and deployments
• Help administer Oracle environments, including RMAN backup and recovery operations
• Manage database security, permissions, and role-based access controls

Requirements

• Two years of experience working with SQL Server databases
• Foundational understanding of relational database concepts and architecture
• Familiarity with Oracle database environments
• Basic knowledge of Windows Server and Linux
• High school diploma or equivalent

Nice to have

• Exposure to enterprise data management practices
• Interest in building cross-platform DBA expertise across SQL Server and Oracle

The posted base compensation range is $70,000–$90,000, with actual pay dependent on location, skills, and experience.
