Junior Controller

I am hiring for my client, a fast-growing commercial construction company in Phoenix, looking to add a Junior Assistant Controller to its accounting team.

This is a great opportunity for someone with hands-on construction accounting experience who wants to step into a broader role, work closely with leadership, and continue growing their career.

The company is expanding quickly, so they need someone who is comfortable rolling up their sleeves, wearing multiple hats, and helping strengthen accounting processes along the way.

What you'll be doing:

• Construction job costing and WIP reporting
• Month-end close, GL, reconciliations, and financial reporting
• AP/AR and project accounting
• Project billing, lien waivers, and COIs
• Partnering with project managers and operations on costs and profitability
• Supporting budgeting, forecasting, audits, and reporting
• Improving accounting processes and controls
• Serving as a key backup to the Controller

What we're looking for:

• Commercial construction accounting experience required
• Ideally 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Strong knowledge of job costing and WIP
• Solid general accounting foundation
• Advanced Excel skills
• Experience in commercial construction environment is a big plus
• Detail-oriented, dependable, adaptable, and hands-on
• Someone humble, coachable, and genuinely interested in learning the business
• Stable career history with thoughtful reasons behind any job changes
