Responsibilities
• Represent spouses, parents, and other individuals as their lawyer of record in family court actions
• Represent the best interests of children in contested custody matters as a Guardian ad Litem
• Conduct initial consultations with clients, evaluate the merits of their case, and provide sound advice on their best path forward
• Draft pleadings, letters, and other court documents
• Advocate for clients in hearings and mediations
• Answer client questions and provide advice promptly
• Maintain thorough records through the firm's case management system to ensure everyone in the firm has access to the most up-to-date information regarding the case
Qualifications
• South Carolina Bar License or ability to obtain one within 6 months of hire
• Completion of South Carolina Rule 403 trial observation requirements or ability to complete requirements within 6 months of hire
• Excellent knowledge of basic office programs, computer software, and online applications, and willingness to learn project and case management software
