Jr. Software EngineerOur Apex client is seeking an experienced Software Engineer to support a full-time research-focused position within an advanced autonomy and systems engineering division. This organization conducts research in support of U.S.
Department of Defense sponsors, with a primary focus on autonomous and uncrewed aircraft programs. Core areas of expertise include autonomous systems, systems engineering, avionics engineering, embedded software development, and test and evaluation.Key ResponsibilitiesPerform software development, debugging, modification, enhancement, and documentation.Design, test, and develop computer software to meet program requirements.Develop and maintain kernel and user-level software and scripts.Contribute to research reports, presentations, white papers, and competitive proposals.Develop software requirements and design using approved coding standards and processes.Provide software development estimates and ensure software meets military, safety, and security standards.Act as a software technical focal point to sponsors for assigned projects.Create and deliver technical presentations.Required QualificationsEducation & Experience: A Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field with 2 years of related experience, OR a Master's degree in the same fields with 0 years of related experience.Technical Skills:Experience developing software for complex systems using disciplined approaches.Proficiency in C/C++ languages.Experience with common scripting languages, including bash and Python.Experience developing software using Linux GCC compilers and related build and debugging tools.Experience developing software on Linux and deploying to Linux target systems.Familiarity with multi-threaded and multi-process concepts and applications.Familiarity with common software IPC mechanisms (e.g., shared memory, pub-sub messaging, RPC).Travel RequirementsTravel for this position is approximately 10%–25%.Compensation & BenefitsThe estimated pay range for this position is $50.00/hr to $70.00/hr, with a potential salary range of $108,540.00 to $147,300.00 upon conversion.
