Electrical EngineerLocation: Athens, OH, US, 45701 Business Unit: Advanced Measurement TechnologiesUnder the direction of senior Electrical Engineering staff members, this position will support daily activities with a focus on support of cryocooler manufacturing, product and process development, and product improvement at Sunpower. The position will support the Electrical Engineering lead by assisting with administrative duties such as team management, scheduling, inventory tracking, and reporting. This position will serve as a key cross-functional collaborator in support of Sunpower's Engineering and Manufacturing operations.

Sunpower is looking for a well-rounded engineer that has demonstrated a high level of achievement and initiative demonstrated in educational, intern, co-operative, and/or professional settings.Key ResponsibilitiesAdministrative & Cross-Functional SupportSupport team coordination activities, including scheduling, inventory tracking, and reportingFacilitate communication across Engineering, Production, Project Management, and Quality teamsAct as a liaison between internal teams, customers, and suppliersCryocooler Manufacturing SupportSupport production of controllers to meet manufacturing schedulesDiagnose failure modes in returned hardware and support root cause analysis and repairsSource alternate components for redesign, replacement, or obsolescenceSupport customer and sales requests and manage custom hardware needsEnsure compliance with Quality Assurance and ISO 9001 proceduresProcess DevelopmentAssist with transfer of new products from Engineering to ProductionDevelop and maintain manufacturing procedures and process documentationSupport troubleshooting and continuous process improvementProduct ImprovementContribute to redesigns, modifications, and development of new capabilitiesSupport compliance testing and certification activitiesParticipate in Configuration Control Board activities for product and process changesAdditional ResponsibilitiesPerform other duties as assignedRequirementsEducation & ExperienceBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience3–5 years of directly related experiencePrior experience supervising or guiding junior staff preferredInternship, co-op, or hands-on experience demonstrating initiative is valuedTechnical SkillsAbility to read and interpret schematics and use ECAD softwareExperience in data collection, analysis, and reportingBroad knowledge of engineering, project management, and quality disciplinesDemonstrated ability and willingness to use AI tools to improve productivity, decision-making, work quality, and to reduce costs. The successful candidate must be able to identify appropriate AI use cases and critically evaluate AI-generated outputs.Collaboration & Soft SkillsStrong cross-functional collaboration and communication skillsAbility to work effectively in a team environmentPreferred QualificationsKnowledge of power electronics, controls, or electronics developmentExperience supporting manufacturing operationsFamiliarity with Lean manufacturing or process improvement methodologiesExperience managing hardware flow to meet production schedulesExperience troubleshooting hardware/software and identifying failure modesKnowledge of ISO 9001, AS9100, or similar quality systemsFamiliarity with laboratory equipment, processes, and safety practicesAbout the Business UnitSince our founding in 1974, Sunpower has been the world leader in free-piston Stirling technology. Sunpower's Engineering services include production of spaceflight cryocoolers and design, development, and fabrication of prototype free-piston Stirling machines. Sunpower's has strong ties to the local community including a long history of connections and collaboration with Ohio University.
