Job Developer/Recreation CoordinatorThe Job developer/Recreation Coordinator is responsible for supporting adults shelter residents with employment readiness, job placement, and career development while also coordinating recreational, educational, and enrichment activities for children and families residing in the shelter. This position plays a vital role in promoting family stability, self-sufficiency, and overall well-being by providing meaningful programming and employment support services.Key Responsibilities:Assist adult clients with resume writing, interview preparation, job searches, and employment applicationsConduct employment readiness workshops, including topics such as workplace communication, professionalism, and career planningDevelop relationships with employers, workforce development agencies, training programs, and community partners to identify job opportunities for residentsSupport clients with obtaining employment documents, including identification, resumes, certifications, and referencesMaintain updated listings of employment resources, job fairs, vocational training, and educational opportunitiesMonitor and document client progress toward employment goalsCollaborate with Case Managers to support client's independent living plans and self-sufficiency goalsProvide weekly workshops on topics such as preparing for a job interview, work ethics, appropriate behavior in the workplaceParticipate in team meetings, case conferences, and training sessions as requiredEnsure compliance with shelter policies, funding requirements, and housing regulationsRecreation And Family Programming Duties:Plan, organize, and supervise after-school, weekend, and recreational activities for children and families residing in the shelterCoordinate educational, social, cultural, and wellness-based activities that promote positive family engagement and child developmentDevelop monthly activity calendars and special events for shelter residentsEnsure activities are safe, structured, inclusive, and age appropriateCoordinate with schools and community organizations to enhance programming opportunitiesMaintain recreational supplies, activity spaces, and program recordsEncourage resident participation and foster a supportive, family-centered environment within the shelterQualifications:Associate or bachelor's degree in human services, Social Work, Recreation, Education, or related field preferred. Equivalent experience may be consideredMinimum of one (1) year experience in workforce development, recreation programming, shelter services, or social services preferredExperience working with families, children, and vulnerable populations strongly preferredStrong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skillsAbility to facilitate groups and engage individuals from diverse backgroundsKnowledge of employment resources, community programs, and recreational programmingAbility to manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environmentProficiency in Microsoft Office and basic data entry/documentation systemsCPR/First Aid certification required prior to employmentNY Driver License requiredWorking Conditions:Work is performed in a shelter environment with frequent interaction with adults, children, and community partnersAbility to manage crisis situations in a calm and professional manner.Schedule: Some evening or weekend hours are required for recreational programming or special eventsReports to: Director of Social Services
