Job DeveloperJob Developer serves on a team that is the central point of contact to coordinate and provide job placement and support services for assigned clients.Duties and ResponsibilitiesDevelops an individualized employment plan with each participantConduct employability assessments of potential participants, this includes, but is not limited to assessing level of ability, readiness for work, physical and mental capabilities of participants, educational background, skills and identification of challenges and barriers to employmentWrite complete and detailed individualized employment plans outlining activities and community referrals, with concise and clear goals to be trackedDevelops a service plan for each participantConduct comprehensive screenings and assessments with veterans to collect functional, environmental, financial, employment, housing, educational, and health information, as appropriateDraft a Service Plan that complements the Employment PlanProvide career counseling and job coaching, including labor market trends to job seekers, coordinating job skills training, as outlined in participant employment planProvide job readiness skills training (soft skills) in areas of resume preparation, interviewing and job search techniquesArrange interviews with employers and working with participants on job retention issuesDevelop and maintain working relationships with local employers, creating long-term permanent placement opportunities for program participantsDevelop a resource base of employers committed to giving priority hiring attention to HVRPRepresent the interests of the agency, (Volunteers of America Greater Los Angeles) the program and its participants in all networking and public relations opportunities.Develop and coordinate linkages with job skills training resources in high-demand fieldsCoordinate with EDD Worksource Centers, Department of Rehabilitation, Los Angeles Unified School District, various community and faith based providers, Veterans Administration, and other Veteran social service and employment resources to ensure participants have access to available services to ensure success.Meet regularly with program participants, aiding their job search by scheduling interviews, referring job leads and community services to ensure participant successMonitor and track job placement activities on a regular basis to ensure accurate and timely reporting of progress as requiredEssential Ability AcknowledgementAbility to work and deal with difficult, uncooperative, and potentially aggressive clients as VOALA serves the neediest of the needy in our programs, which may include clients with homelessness, mental illness, substance abuse, recently released from incarceration, and other challenges.Essential DutiesServices for this position must be provided on-site. As a result, the position requires incumbents to report to work on-site each day of active employment.Assessment and development of Individual Employment Plan and Service Plan.Career Counselling and Job Coaching of participants.Develop Relationships with local employersDevelop linkages with other agencies/resources available to participants.Capacity Building - meeting and motivating participant progressMonitor participants, track progress, timely report progress.Other duties as required and is subject to change at any time.Mandated ReporterAs service providers to the underprivileged and vulnerable in our community, all employees are considered Mandated Reporters, and must report any instance of physical or sexual abuse to proper authorities.QualificationsRequirementsMust be able to pass a fingerprint clearance, background check, including criminal history, personal references, employment and education verificationsAbility to perform under circumstances of possible emotional stress and conflicts dealing with difficult, uncooperative, and potentially aggressive clients as VOALA serves the neediest of the needy in our programs which may include clients with homelessness, mental-illness, substance abuse, recently released from incarceration and other challenges.EducationHigh school diploma (or GED/High School Equivalence Certificate) - Must be over the age of 18 years.Experience1 year of experience in case management or as a job developer.Preferred QualificationsBachelor's degree or equivalent education and experience in employment placement and vocational counseling activitiesUS Armed Forces veteran strongly preferred not requiredBilingual in English and Spanish
