Java Architect

Location: 100% Remote

Duration: 6M Contract

Work hours: 7am - 5pm

Summary of the project/initiative: Candidate will be working on 2022/2023 UMR Data Strategy projects and other data migration activities/deliverables.

Team details: Candidate will work with 2 Technical SMEs and 8 Java developers.

Top responsibilities:

• Performing all phases of software engineering including requirements analysis, application design, and code development & testing
• Designing and implementing product features in collaboration with business and IT stakeholders
• Design, develop and test reusable frameworks, libraries, and Java components
• Work with other engineers and teams to create and maintain dev-ops processes, application infrastructure and utilize cloud services
• Be innovative in solution design and development to meet the needs of the business
• Expected to adapt in dynamic and collaborative work environment and make independent decisions
• Understand new product capabilities and decompose the implementation into specific functional changes for verification
• Participate in Agile/Scrum methodology to deliver high-quality software releases
• Collaborate with the scrum team to meet project timelines
• Review code and provide feedback relative to best practices and improving performance
• Mentor and guide other engineers within the team
• Perform comprehensive testing of product distributions prior to release
• Troubleshoot production support issues post-deployment and come up with solutions as required

Ideal candidate background: Background in healthcare domain, including claims, eligibility, clinical, provider, etc

Required skills/attributes:

• Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience
• 10+ years of experience in design, development, and implementation of enterprise applications
• 6+ years of experience with Java technology development stack (Java 8 +, Spring Boot)
• 3+ years hands-on expertise with building Micro Services, Rest API
• 2+ years of Experience with Kafka or other event streaming technologies
• 1+ years building and deploying Cloud based solutions - Azure/AWS/GCP
• Experience with Shell scripting
• Experience with Docker and Open Shift technologies
• Experience with CI/CD process and tools such as: Jenkins, JPAC, Automation, GIT, Artifactory, Fortify Scan, Sonar Cube

Top 3 required skills:

• 6+ years of experience with Java technology development stack (Java 8 +, Spring Boot)
• 3+ years hands-on expertise with building Micro Services, Rest API
• 2+ years of Experience with Kafka or other event streaming technologies

Preferred skills/attributes:

• Experience delivering software using an Agile/Scrum methodology (Agile Central, Rally)
• Healthcare domain experience
• Ability to segment and organize data from disparate sources
• Ability to work in a fast paced, fluid environment while maintaining adherence to standards and best practices
