Mid-Level Java Backend DeveloperSAIC is currently seeking a motivated, career and customer oriented, and hands on mid-level Java Backend Developer with cloud experience to join our team to begin an exciting and challenging career in Ashburn, VA.This position requires you to be on-site in Ashburn, VA 5 days per week for the first year of employment. After their first year, you will have the option to work a hybrid schedule (2 days on-site).Job ResponsibilitiesWorking closely with the tech lead and senior developers, the Backend Developer will participate in the system architecture design, development, integration testing and validation, and all aspects of the software life cycle (requirements to design to implementation to test) for a java backend application involving extensive Messaging and Transaction processingMust be hands on and be able to design and develop Java code as dictated by project requirements as needed and work with/mentor junior team members.The candidate will be expected to learn and adhere to the continuous integration, automated unit testing and other AGILE practices established within the team using the tools that are currently used by the teamThe candidate is expected to diagnose and fix issues in existing application components as part of maintenanceQualificationsRequired Skills and ExperienceBachelor’s degree in computer science or related engineering field with 5+ years of related technical experience.At least 5 years of strong Java JEE design and software development experience including designing, developing, and documenting large-scale enterprise software systems.At least 5 years of working with Applications on Cloud utilizing serverless hosted services like AWS lambda.Java 21Docker/Kubernetes ContainerSpringBootMicro Services architectureAWSXML Message builder & XML parsingPostgres DBAngularExtensive skills in JDBC/JPA/Hibernate and strong SQL skills is required for this position.Knowledge of standard design patterns.Demonstrated expertise in software engineering practices (e.g., reading/generating software specs, design patterns, continuous integration)Gitlab/JIRA/Jenkins for CI/CDDesired Skills and ExperienceMaster’s degree in Computer Science or related field is a plusFirst-hand experience working with large project teams (working with the Federal Government a strong plus)Demonstrated ability to think critically and creatively to develop innovative solutions to software problemsAbility to develop and maintain components with stringent performance requirementsAgile development experience a plusAWS ISTIOSpring SchedulerIBM MQ and Kafka QueuesDebugging with AWS KibanaExperience with NoSQL DBs like MongoDB, DocumentDB, DynamoDB etc.This is a highly technical and hands on positionCustomer RequirementsClearance – Ability to obtain and hold a public trust position and favorable suitability based on a CBP Background InvestigationCitizenship – Must be a US CitizenLocation – Required to be on-site in Ashburn, VA 5 days per week for the first year of employment.
