IT Process Consultant – ISO 9001, ISO 22301 & CMMI

We are seeking an experienced IT Process Consultant with recent, hands-on experience implementing, assessing, improving, and auditing IT processes aligned with ISO 9001, ISO 22301, and CMMI V3.0.

About the Role

This is a hands-on process consulting role, not a certification-only or theoretical position. The consultant will work directly with IT teams, business stakeholders, process owners, leadership, and auditors throughout the complete process lifecycle:

• Assessment
• Process Definition
• Implementation
• Audit

Responsibilities

Assessment

• Conduct current-state and gap assessments against ISO 9001, ISO 22301, and CMMI requirements.
• Assess IT process maturity and organizational readiness.
• Review policies, procedures, SOPs, controls, KPIs, and governance.
• Identify compliance gaps, risks, process weaknesses, and improvement opportunities.
• Develop remediation plans and track corrective actions through closure.

Process Definition

• Define and redesign IT processes aligned with applicable ISO and CMMI requirements.
• Develop policies, procedures, SOPs, process maps, workflows, templates, checklists, and controls.
• Define process ownership, roles/responsibilities, KPIs, SLAs, and governance.
• Map processes and objective evidence to applicable ISO clauses and CMMI practice areas.

Implementation

• Lead hands-on implementation of defined processes.
• Work directly with IT teams and process owners to operationalize processes.
• Facilitate workshops, process walkthroughs, and stakeholder sessions.
• Implement metrics, monitoring, governance, and continuous-improvement mechanisms.
• Support training, adoption, and organizational change.
• Track implementation gaps and corrective actions through closure.

Audit & Compliance

• Conduct internal audits and process compliance reviews.
• Perform audit-readiness assessments.
• Prepare teams and documentation for external certification and appraisal activities.
• Collect and validate objective evidence.
• Identify non-conformities and process deficiencies.
• Perform root-cause analysis and develop corrective-action plans.
• Support ISO certification audits and CMMI appraisal/readiness activities.

Qualifications

• Strong and recent hands-on experience with ISO 9001, ISO 22301, and CMMI V3.0
• Experience implementing processes in an enterprise IT environment
• Experience conducting gap, maturity, compliance, and readiness assessments
• Strong process documentation and audit-evidence development experience
• Experience working directly with technical teams, process owners, leadership, and auditors
• Strong communication, facilitation, documentation, and stakeholder-management skills
• Ability to independently drive process assessment, definition, implementation, and audit-readiness activities

Preferred Skills

• CMMI V3.0 training, appraisal, or implementation credentials

Location

100% onsite in San Francisco (SFO), CA. Candidates must be able to work onsite full-time.
