IT Communications Specialist

Must-Haves

• Bachelor's degree in Communications, PR, Marketing, Journalism, IT, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 5+ years of communications, stakeholder engagement, public relations, marketing, or technology communications experience.
• Strong writing, editing, presentation, and storytelling skills.
• Experience translating technical concepts for non-technical audiences.
• Experience working with executives, technical teams, and business stakeholders.
• Ability to independently manage multiple communication initiatives from planning through execution.
• Strong organizational, relationship-building, and project management skills.

Nice-to-Haves

• Experience supporting IT organizations or large technology initiatives.
• Change management, technology adoption, or digital transformation experience.
• Familiarity with Microsoft 365, ServiceNow, ERP systems, collaboration platforms, or AI-enabled tools.
• Executive communications and briefing materials experience.
• Survey analysis, reporting, dashboards, or data visualization experience.
• Cybersecurity awareness campaign experience.
• Experience developing award submissions and success stories.
• Public sector or local government communications experience.

Day-to-Day

• Create and deliver internal IT communications around technology initiatives, changes, cybersecurity, and organizational updates.
• Translate technical concepts into clear, business-friendly messaging for employees and leadership.
• Partner with IT teams, project managers, and stakeholders to support technology adoption and engagement.
• Develop communication plans, campaigns, FAQs, executive presentations, and training materials.
• Manage employee surveys, stakeholder feedback, and engagement initiatives.
• Support cybersecurity awareness campaigns and employee education efforts.
• Promote self-service tools, digital adoption, and technology resources.
• Highlight IT accomplishments through success stories, awards submissions, and recognition programs.
