IT/Communications Controls EngineerRequired Skills:Experience in design, development, programming, and field commissioning experience (5 Years)Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical documents, including P&IDs, sequence of operations, technical specifications, etc. (5 Years)Experience with industrial communications protocol, such as Modbus RTU, Modbus TCP, DNP3.0, Ethernet/IP, serial comms (RS-485, RS-232, and CAN), and ARINC (5 Years)Reading PLC Ladder Logic, Tags, and Scripts (5 Years)Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations (5 Years)Ability to write routine reports and correspondence (5 Years)Ability to set up a database historian (5 Years)The IT/Communications Controls Engineer will maintain systems of electrical and automated controls for machines, processes, substations, and the railroad control center. This role emphasizes PLC, HMI, SCADA, and system integration, which are core to the position.Job Duties:Maintain systems of electrical and automated controls for machines, processes, sub-stations, and the railroad control centerProgram, upload, and download PLC, HMI, and SCADA codes for backup and achievingSelect hardware and formulate an engineering design based on project requirementsReviews system design for compliance with engineering best practices, appropriate regulations and codes, company standards, contract requirements, and related specificationsFormulates and performs factory acceptance test plans for completed systemsPerforms site acceptance tests at client job sitesProvides PLC and HMI programming field support and troubleshootingAssist Lead Systems Engineer with controls, SCADA design, FAT scheduling, requirements writing, testing, and design review for projectsAssist Lead Systems Engineer in cost estimation, scope of work, procurement, and project executionProvides project management assistance for control systems and SCADADirects and coordinates the operation, maintenance, and repair of equipment and systems on field installationsUse Microsoft Office products to perform engineering and project management tasksSet up and install Communications Fujitsu Servers, Switches, Protocol Converters, Firewalls, and ModemsPerform assessments and gather data at existing substations, regarding the existing communication equipment life cycleDevelop design/requirements of communications systems for substations, including fiber optics, telecom racks, ethernet switches, alarms, HMI and SCADA systems, cabinet elevations, communications block diagrams, and communications towers and racewaysImplements sound cybersecurity architecture and configurations on substation devices.

Applies North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) compliance requirements.Create SCADA point lists and remote terminal unit (RTU) programs, to be reported through human-machine interfaces (HMIs) and the Control CenterPrepare Substation Automation System (SAS) panel interconnections and outdoor equipment wiring and communications cabling, and racewaysPrepare cable scheduleDevelop bill of materials and nameplate scheduleReview internal communications designs and external design drawingsInitiating new, creative ideas.Having a willingness to be flexible - adapting to new pathsStrong problem-solving/troubleshooting practices.Able to manage multiple projects.Being a team player and working cross-functionallyManaging resources and relationships - internally and externallyConsistently evaluating processes, automating, and recommending changes when appropriateSupporting all business operations, value in - value outAdapting, realizing workflow can, will change as our business growsCommunicating throughout the organizationBe visionary and able to share that vision with the team members, planning for alternatives
