IT Asset Management Analyst

Cook County Health is seeking an IT Asset Management Analyst to support the management of hardware and software assets throughout their complete lifecycle.

This position will oversee IT asset inventory, procurement, compliance, reporting, and optimization while serving as the primary administrator of the Hospital Information Systems Configuration Management Database (CMDB). The ideal candidate is organized, analytical, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced healthcare IT environment with competing priorities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the complete lifecycle of IT hardware and software assets, including procurement, deployment, utilization, maintenance, and disposal.
  • Maintain an accurate inventory of hardware, software licenses, maintenance agreements, and related technology assets.
  • Administer and maintain the CMDB, ensuring data accuracy and alignment with IT Service Management standards.
  • Develop and improve processes for asset tagging, inventory tracking, compliance audits, forecasting, and environmentally responsible disposal.
  • Support software asset management activities, including license tracking, compliance monitoring, and software optimization.
  • Coordinate physical inventory activities, including receiving, storage, replenishment, and equipment forecasting.
  • Monitor regulatory, contractual, and internal compliance requirements related to IT assets.
  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with hardware, software, licensing, and asset-management practices.
  • Develop and analyze asset-management KPIs, reports, and dashboards to identify trends and recommend improvements.
  • Prepare reports covering inventory levels, equipment lifecycle status, end-of-life assets, license positions, and compliance metrics.
  • Collaborate with Procurement, Finance, IT Operations, Information Security, and other stakeholders to align asset-management strategies with organizational needs.
  • Support vendor relationships, contract negotiations, and vendor-performance monitoring.
  • Respond to stakeholder requests and assist with special projects supporting the Hospital Information Systems department.

Minimum Qualifications

  • At least two years of experience managing IT hardware and software assets.
  • Experience using an IT asset-management platform such as ServiceNow, Freshservice, or a comparable system.
  • Working knowledge of hardware and software lifecycle-management practices.
  • Strong inventory-management, reporting, documentation, and analytical skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • At least two years of IT asset-management experience within a large organization or healthcare environment.
  • Experience administering a Configuration Management Database.
  • Knowledge of ITIL principles and IT Service Management practices.
  • Experience with advanced asset-management and reporting platforms.
  • Familiarity with software deployment tools and scripting technologies such as SCCM and PowerShell.
  • Experience managing vendor relationships, contracts, budgets, cost optimization, and return-on-investment analysis.
  • IT Asset Management certification, such as CITAM or CHAMP.
  • ITIL Foundation certification.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical asset-management concepts in business terms.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with the ability to convert asset data into actionable insights.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a consistent commitment to inventory accuracy, compliance, and documentation.
  • Ability to collaborate across departments and work effectively with technical teams, business leaders, vendors, and end users.
  • Financial understanding related to budgeting, forecasting, cost management, and technology investments.
  • Ability to quickly learn and effectively use new asset-management tools and technologies.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Adaptability and sound judgment in a fast-paced, high-priority environment.
  • A continuous-improvement mindset and willingness to introduce data-driven ideas that improve asset-management practices.
