IT Architect - Atlanta, GAHybrid (Local Candidates Only) Engagement Type: Contract Interview Type: Web Cam or In-Person Start Date: 09/29/2025 End Date: 06/30/2026 Candidates must be able to pass standard background checks. The IT Architect 1 will play a key role in planning, supervising, and executing complex IT projects for GDOT.

The role involves both leadership and hands-on responsibilities, focusing on technical solution design, team resource management, stakeholder collaboration, and modern software development best practices.Job Responsibilities:Supervise and guide subordinate staff in their project work and technical deliverables.Plan and schedule team resources and maintain project status reports and documentation.Analyze and create work/project plans for technical teams.Resolve technical and procedural issues related to system implementations and assignments.Lead integrated systems design efforts and ensure architectural integrity.Serve as a liaison between internal users, third-party vendors, and IT teams.Oversee project schedules and ensure timely completion of assigned tasks.Participate in all aspects of SDLC including requirements, design, development, deployment, and support.Required Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field from an accredited university.10+ years of relevant experience including:System analysis, architecture design, and development.Stakeholder engagement and cross-functional leadership.Technical Skills & Knowledge:Software Development & ProgrammingDeep understanding of software development principles and multi-platform environments.Proficiency in various programming languages (e.g., Java,.NET, Python).Cloud TechnologiesExperience with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud platforms.Database DesignStrong knowledge of data modeling, RDBMS, and data integration principles.DevOps & CI/CDFamiliarity with DevOps practices and automation pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD).SecurityStrong understanding of security principles for application and infrastructure design.Architecture Styles & ToolsExperience with monolithic, microservices, and client-server architectures.Understanding of design patterns and architectural frameworks.Test AutomationExperience using test automation tools to maintain quality in agile environments.Soft Skills:Communication: Clear and effective with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.Problem-solving: Analytical mindset for diagnosing and resolving complex challenges.Leadership: Capable of guiding teams and projects with strategic oversight.Adaptability: Open to new tools, technologies, and evolving project needs.Stakeholder Management: Skilled at navigating expectations and maintaining alignment.Time Management: Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and ensure quality delivery.Teamwork & Collaboration: Works well in multidisciplinary teams and across departments.Critical Thinking & Continuous Learning: Keeps up-to-date with industry trends and tech innovations.Preferred Skills (Nice to Have):Familiarity with State or Federal Government systems or environments.Experience with transportation or public infrastructure systems.
