IT Advisor For Petrophysical & Borehole Data ManagementThe IT Advisor for Petrophysical & Borehole Data Management will lead enterprise initiatives focused on the management, migration, integration, governance, and business adoption of petrophysical and borehole data solutions. This role will be centered on Landmark DecisionSpace®365 Borehole Data Management (BHDM), DSIF-based deployment architecture, cloud-hosted subsurface data platforms, and the enablement of high-quality well log, core, and related subsurface data for technical users across the business.This position will serve as a senior technical advisor and engagement lead between business users, petrophysicists, geoscientists, data managers, IT, cloud architecture teams, vendors, and project stakeholders.
The role will help drive adoption of modern borehole data management workflows, promote the value of centralized and governed petrophysical data, and ensure that subsurface data is searchable, trusted, accessible, and usable across interpretation, modeling, analytics, and operational workflows.The ideal candidate will combine deep petrophysical data management expertise with practical experience in BHDM / DSIF products, cloud architecture, data migration, quality control, metadata governance, project delivery, stakeholder engagement, and change management. The position requires someone who can translate business needs into actionable technical requirements, guide implementation teams, engage end users, and promote the work being delivered across the organization.Key ResponsibilitiesLead and advise on enterprise petrophysical and borehole data management initiatives, with emphasis on BHDM, DSIF, Recall, iPoint, well log repositories, core data, SCAL data, and related subsurface datasets.Partner with business users, petrophysicists, geoscientists, data managers, petro/geo techs, software developers, IT, cloud teams, and vendor resources to define requirements, validate workflows, and deliver fit-for-purpose data management solutions.Serve as a key liaison between technical delivery teams and business stakeholders, ensuring that data management projects align with asset needs, subsurface workflows, and enterprise data standards.Support the deployment, configuration, testing, and operational readiness of BHDM and DSIF-based solutions in cloud-hosted environments.Provide subject matter expertise for cloud architecture discussions related to BHDM / DSIF deployment, including AWS tenant configuration, networking, identity integration, security controls, logging, scalability, performance, and operating model considerations.Lead or contribute to data migration efforts from legacy systems such as Recall, iPoint, shared repositories, and other borehole data sources into a modern BHDM environment.Define, implement, and improve data ingestion workflows for wireline logs, cased-hole logs, open-hole logs, MWD/LWD data, core data, SCAL data, imagery, documents, and associated metadata.Establish and maintain quality control workflows for petrophysical datasets, including validation of headers, curves, units, mnemonics, depth references, data gaps, null values, spikes, flat sections, saturation effects, and metadata completeness.Develop and promote business rules, technical assurance protocols, data standards, and governance practices that ensure borehole data integrity, lineage, traceability, and long-term usability.Support automated ingestion, validation, approval, publication, search, visualization, export, and transfer workflows for borehole data.Work with business users to identify pain points, gather feedback, document requirements, prioritize enhancements, and promote adoption of new data management tools and workflows.Create and deliver presentations, workflow demonstrations, training materials, technical documentation, project updates, and communications that explain the value of BHDM / DSIF capabilities to both technical and non-technical audiences.Help promote the work of the data management organization by communicating project progress, business value, data quality improvements, efficiency gains, and future roadmap opportunities.Lead user acceptance testing, workflow validation, issue resolution, and transition-to-operations activities in partnership with business and technical teams.Support project planning, risk management, milestone tracking, vendor coordination, dependency management, and stakeholder reporting for complex data management initiatives.Troubleshoot data ingestion, access, migration, metadata, quality, search, visualization, export, and user workflow issues.Ensure solutions comply with enterprise data governance, cybersecurity, access control, entitlement, and records retention requirements.Remain current with evolving technologies in petrophysical data management, borehole data repositories, cloud platforms, AI/ML, analytics, automation, and subsurface digital transformation.Technical Skills & Experience10+ years of experience in petrophysical data management, borehole data management, subsurface data management, geoscience data systems, or related disciplines.Deep understanding of petrophysical and borehole data types, including open-hole logs, cased-hole logs, MWD, LWD, image logs, core data, sidewall core, SCAL, fluid properties, rock typing, facies, geochemical data, geomechanical data, interpretations, and related subsurface datasets.Strong working knowledge of well log file formats and associated metadata, including LAS, DLIS, LIS, WITSML, SPWLA, ASCII, FMI/image log files, and other vendor-specific formats.Experience with Landmark / Halliburton technologies such as BHDM, DSIF, DecisionSpace, Recall, Dropsite, Enterprise Search, and related borehole data workflows is strongly preferred.Experience with iPoint or similar core and SCAL data management systems.Strong understanding of petrophysical data quality control methods, including depth alignment, curve validation, SP baseline offsets, unit standardization, mnemonic aliasing, duplicate detection, curve classification, and header verification.Excellent working knowledge of curve mnemonics and units for open-hole, cased-hole, MWD, LWD, image logs, production logs, and supporting well log data types.Strong understanding of logging operations, drilling, coring, geodetics, well headers, log headers, downhole units of measure, coordinate reference systems, API numbering standards, and enterprise well master data.Experience with petrophysical interpretation and visualization tools such as Interactive Petrophysics, Techlog, LasWorx, Recall, Petrel, OpenWorks, Danomics, and similar applications.Experience with enterprise-scale ingestion, transformation, migration, and management of petrophysical data from multiple source systems into governed repositories.Understanding of metadata management, master data alignment, data lineage, auditability, version control, entitlements, access controls, and data lifecycle management.Working knowledge of cloud computing and cloud-hosted data platforms, preferably AWS, including cloud-native services, data lake concepts, containerized deployments, Kubernetes, networking, logging, monitoring, identity integration, and security controls.Ability to work effectively with cloud architects and infrastructure teams to support BHDM / DSIF deployment, hardening, testing, and operational readiness.Competence in SQL, Python, Excel, and scripting approaches for data extraction, transformation, analysis, reporting, and automation.Familiarity with database management systems such as SQL Server, Oracle, and other enterprise data platforms.Experience with business intelligence and visualization tools such as Power BI, Spotfire, Power Automate, dashboards, scorecards, and reporting solutions.Familiarity with AI/ML and data science techniques used in petrophysical workflows, including statistical analysis, predictive modeling, anomaly detection, data quality automation, and pattern recognition.Working knowledge of OSDU concepts, APIs, data models, and interoperability standards is beneficial, but this role is not primarily OSDU-focused.Ability to troubleshoot complex data ingestion, access, integration, migration, and data quality issues across multiple systems and stakeholder groups.Cloud Architecture & Platform DeliverySupport the design, deployment, validation, and operational readiness of BHDM / DSIF environments in AWS or other approved cloud platforms.Collaborate with IT, cybersecurity, cloud engineering, architecture, and vendor teams to validate deployment patterns, identity integration, network segmentation, logging, monitoring, storage, compute, scalability, and security requirements.Help define the operating model for business-owned and IT-supported borehole data platforms, including responsibilities, support processes, issue escalation, and transition-to-operations expectations.Participate in architecture validation, pre-production testing, performance testing, scalability reviews, and production-readiness activities.Support containerized application deployment concepts, cloud-native services, data transfer workflows, and secure access to enterprise
