We are working on a confidential search for an Investment Research professional focused on Equity Long/Short strategies to join a sophisticated investment platform in New York.
This is an investment-focused role combining fundamental and quantitative analysis of equity long/short strategies, portfolio analytics and investment decision-making. The successful candidate will develop a deep understanding of how different L/S approaches generate alpha, evaluate the durability of investment processes and identify the underlying drivers of performance and risk.
The role offers significant exposure to leading Equity Long/Short investment strategies and senior investors, alongside responsibility for developing proprietary frameworks used to assess alpha generation, portfolio characteristics and investment opportunities.
Key areas of focus:
- Conduct deep research across Equity Long/Short investment strategies
- Analyse alpha generation, factor exposures, portfolio construction, risk and performance
- Develop views on the strengths, weaknesses and durability of different investment approaches
- Perform quantitative research, backtesting and statistical analysis
- Build and enhance proprietary investment frameworks and analytics
- Translate complex quantitative and qualitative research into clear investment recommendations
- Work closely with senior investment professionals on portfolio and strategy decisions
- Engage with sophisticated investors to understand positioning, market views and evolving investment opportunities
Ideal background:
- 6–12 years of experience within investment management, equity research or alternative investments
- Strong understanding of Equity Long/Short investing
- Experience analysing portfolios, investment strategies, alpha and risk
- Strong analytical and quantitative capabilities; Python, Bloomberg and advanced Excel advantageous
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong academic background
- Ability to develop an investment view and communicate it with conviction
