Key Responsibilities of the Interventional Radiology Technologist:
- Assist physicians and the interventional radiology team during diagnostic and minimally invasive procedures
- Prepare patients, equipment, instruments, and supplies before procedures
- Operate and assist with fluoroscopy and other specialized imaging equipment
- Maintain a sterile field and follow infection-control and radiation-safety protocols
- Assist with procedures such as angiography, biopsies, drain placements, and vascular interventions
- Monitor patients during procedures and communicate changes in condition to the clinical team
- Prepare and maintain contrast media, supplies, and procedural equipment
- Ensure accurate patient identification, documentation, and specimen handling
- Clean, inspect, and maintain equipment according to department standards
- Collaborate with radiologists, nurses, physicians, and other healthcare professionals
Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of recent Interventional Radiology Technologist experience
- Current BLS certification
- ARRT certification/registration preferred or required according to facility requirements
- Experience with fluoroscopy and interventional radiology procedures
- Strong knowledge of sterile technique and radiation safety
- Excellent patient-care, communication, and teamwork skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced procedural environment
