Sanford Health is seeking two BC/BE fellowship-trained Interventional Cardiologists to establish and expand a new Interventional Cardiology service line in Rapid City, South Dakota. This unique opportunity allows physicians to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of cardiovascular care across western South Dakota and the surrounding region. The successful candidates will collaborate with leadership and specialists to build a thriving interventional practice, with an initial focus on both general and interventional cardiology.
Practice Info
- Establish and grow a new Interventional Cardiology service line in Rapid City, South Dakota.
- Opportunity to help define clinical strategy, referral development, and service growth.
- Clinical practice in the building phase will be approximately 50% General Cardiology / 50% Interventional Cardiology.
- Existing cath lab in the Sanford Black Hills Surgical Hospital.
- Imaging services available: MRI, CT, PET, and Echo.
- Inpatient consults at the Sanford Black Hills Surgical Hospital, low volume.
Responsibilities
- Provide Interventional Cardiology services, including coronary and peripheral interventions based on training and experience.
- Participate in call coverage.
- Perform history and physical examinations, admit, evaluate, treat, and provide consultation to patients of all ages with acute and chronic coronary artery disease, acute coronary syndromes, and valvular heart disease.

Requirements
- H-1B and J-1 visa sponsorship available.
- BC/BE fellowship trained Interventional Cardiologist.
- M.D. or D.O. degree.
- If just completed fellowship, provide fellowship log with a minimum of 250 therapeutic interventional cardiac procedures documented and a letter of reference from the fellowship director.
- If not applying directly out of fellowship, provide a quality profile from hospital(s) where privileges are held showing clinical activity for the past 24 months, including numbers of procedures performed, morbidity, mortality, infection rates, and other complications.
- For Interventional catheterization skills, applicants should provide documentation of 250 interventional procedures as the primary operator within the past 24 months and a letter of reference regarding competency from the director of the cardiac catheterization laboratory at the institution where the applicant most recently practiced.
- Successful completion of a hospital affiliated Internal Medicine residency program of at least 3 years' duration.
- Completion of a fellowship in Cardiology of at least 3 years' duration and successful completion of an additional 12 months of fellowship training in Interventional Cardiology.
- All programs must be accredited by The ACGME, the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physician and Surgeons of Canada.
- Certification by the appropriate specialty /subspecialty board of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS), the American Osteopathic Association (AOA), or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, as applicable.
