A growing Top 100 public accounting and advisory firm is looking to add an experienced International Tax Manager to its expanding tax practice.

This position is suited to a technically strong tax professional who enjoys solving complex cross-border issues while remaining closely involved with clients. You'll have responsibility for managing engagements, advising businesses and individuals on international tax matters, and developing professionals within the team.

The role provides exposure to both domestic and international tax matters, including cross-border compliance, structuring, planning, and transaction-related projects.

What You'll Be Doing

As an International Tax Manager , you'll take ownership of engagements and work directly with senior leadership and clients on complex tax matters.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Manage international and domestic tax engagements from initial planning through final delivery.
  • Review complex federal, international, and multi-state income tax returns for corporations, partnerships, S corporations, and high-net-worth individuals.
  • Oversee international information reporting and compliance requirements.
  • Review Forms 5471, 5472, 8858, 1120-F and related international filings.
  • Review and advise on GILTI calculations and other international tax considerations affecting U.S. taxpayers.
  • Identify potential tax exposures and recommend practical solutions based on clients' circumstances and business objectives.
  • Work alongside partners on cross-border tax planning, entity structuring, transactions, and other consulting assignments.
  • Research complex federal and international tax matters and translate technical guidance into clear recommendations.
  • Monitor changes in tax legislation and assess how developments could affect clients.
  • Manage engagement timelines, staffing, budgets, and overall delivery.
  • Maintain strong communication with clients throughout engagements and develop long-term advisory relationships.

Leadership & Team Development

This position will also have an important role in developing the wider tax team. You'll:

  • Supervise and review the work of associates and senior-level professionals.
  • Provide technical guidance and coaching throughout engagements.
  • Deliver constructive feedback and contribute to employee performance reviews.
  • Assist with technical training and knowledge-sharing across the tax practice.
  • Help allocate work effectively and ensure engagement deadlines are achieved.
  • Create opportunities for junior professionals to develop their international tax knowledge.

Business & Practice Development

As a manager within the practice, you'll also contribute beyond day-to-day compliance work by:

  • Identifying additional tax and advisory opportunities within existing client relationships.
  • Supporting proposals and prospective client opportunities.
  • Participating in business development and professional networking activities.
  • Working collaboratively with other service lines to provide clients with broader solutions.
  • Helping strengthen and expand the firm's international tax capabilities.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Taxation, or a related field.
  • Master's degree in Taxation or a related discipline is preferred.
  • 6+ years of relevant tax experience , ideally gained within public accounting.
  • At least 3 years of management or supervisory experience .
  • CPA, Enrolled Agent (EA), or equivalent professional certification.
  • Strong international and federal tax technical knowledge.
  • Hands-on experience with international tax compliance and reporting.
  • Experience managing complex client engagements independently.
  • Strong research and technical writing capabilities.
  • Proven ability to supervise, coach, and develop accounting professionals.
  • Excellent client communication and relationship management skills.
  • Strong project management and organisational abilities.
  • Confidence working with professional tax, research, and accounting technology.

This is a full-time opportunity offering a flexible hybrid working arrangement. Standard business hours are Monday through Friday, with additional hours occasionally required during peak tax and filing periods.

The anticipated base salary for this position is $130,000 to $150,000 , depending on experience, qualifications, technical expertise, and location.
