Internal Medicine Physician

We are requesting coverage for POB Gastroenterology due to a vacancy and increased endoscopy demand. Our Provider left early January 2026, which help to increase the needed demand for Gastro services. This departure created a vacuum of roughly 224 scopes/month. We added a provider in September 2025, to our Gastroenterology team. However, with only one full-time provider in our POB team doing scopes, it's been a challenge to keep up with the demand that has been placed on our service line. Our Provider provides complex GI patients both in clinics and GI lab. In September 2026, we will have two more providers join the POB Gastroenterology team here . Current practice is set up for 3-4 GI physicians and 3 midlevel providers. We have 2 NPs and 1 PA-C working inside the GI clinic now. They will do pre and post workups on patients needing scopes. The addition of a will create a schedule for the provider for colonoscopies on a Mon-Fri schedule. This provider will perform the scheduled colonoscopies and then visit IP consults from the night before. If those patients need any further services in the GI lab, this 's provider will do them in the GI suite to follow the scheduled procedures.

With the departure of our provider, midtown had budgeted for coverage until we can recruit another provider. The request for a is a short-term solution for coverage when providers are on vacation, CME, or the time there is a scheduling conflict with inpatient call coverage. has a very busy hospitalist service that continues to increase demand from our GI service line. Hospitalist in-patient service will give primary medical services until GI able to consult for further services. We are looking for a provider that will help fill our short-term need in our East Texas, market.
