Job Roles & Responsibilities:
Provide clinical oversight and medical direction for all on-site occupational health services delivered at the District's clinic.
Perform and sign off on DOT (Department of Transportation) physical examinations for commercial bus and ferry drivers.
Conduct respiratory clearance examinations and approve respirator fit-testing compliance for employees exposed to hazardous materials (bridge painters, maintenance staff).
Oversee and direct workers' compensation injury care, including reviewing complex cases and determining return-to-work clearance.
Supervise and clinically review the work of Physician Assistants (Client), Nurse Practitioners (NPs), and Registered Nurses (RNs) providing patient care.
Develop and approve clinical protocols, standing orders, and treatment guidelines for the on-site clinic.
Review and clear employees for medical surveillance programs (HAZWOPER, Bloodborne Pathogen exposure, Hearing Conservation).
Provide expert review for ergonomic evaluations and physical ability testing to ensure employees are fit for duty.
Act as the primary clinical liaison with the District's administration on matters of medical policy and compliance.
Mandatory Requirements:
Active, unrestricted license to practice as a Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) in the State of California.
Current FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) National Registry Certification to perform DOT physical examinations.
Current CPR/BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
