Job Title: Primary Care Physician

Job Responsibilities:
• Direct Patient Care: Estimated 95% of the time involved in direct patient care.
• Evaluation, Treatment and Management: Employment of the principles of Primary Care for management of acute and chronic conditions.
• Initial evaluation, treatment and management of minor wound care, respiratory illness, gastrointestinal illness, burns, musculoskeletal trauma, dermatological illness, ENT, eye and urological problems.
• Initial evaluation and ongoing management of chronic diseases, such as coronary artery disease, atherovascular disease, Type I and II diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, PTSD, depression and other chronic medical and psychiatric conditions.
• Shifts: Be present on time for any scheduled tour of duty as documented by physical presence in Primary Care at the scheduled start time.
• Medications: Follow all established medication policies and procedures. No sample medications shall be provided to patients.
• Communication of Test Results: Mechanisms must be in place to provide notification of test results for patients receiving care in accordance with VHA Directive 1088, Communicating Test Results to Providers and Patients.
