We are seeking an Internal Medicine Physician to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care for adult patients in an outpatient primary care setting (and/or inpatient coverage depending on the practice model). The ideal candidate is committed to evidence-based medicine, strong continuity of care, and collaborative teamwork to improve outcomes for patients with complex and chronic conditions.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive primary care to adult patients, including preventive care, acute visits, and chronic disease management
- Diagnose and manage common internal medicine conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, heart disease, COPD/asthma, kidney disease, thyroid disorders, and mental health concerns
- Perform and interpret clinical assessments, develop treatment plans, and coordinate longitudinal care
- Order, interpret, and follow up on diagnostic testing (labs, imaging, EKGs, pulmonary function tests as applicable)
- Provide health maintenance services including annual physicals, screenings, immunizations, and lifestyle counseling
- Coordinate referrals and collaborate with specialists, hospital teams, and ancillary services to ensure continuity and timely follow-up
- Document encounters accurately and efficiently in the electronic health record (EHR)
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and adhere to clinical guidelines, safety standards, and regulatory requirements
- Support patient education and shared decision-making to improve understanding, adherence, and self-management
Required Qualifications
- MD or DO from an accredited medical school
- Completion of an ACGME/AOA-accredited Internal Medicine residency
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Internal Medicine
- Active medical license in the practicing state (or eligibility to obtain)
- DEA registration (or eligibility to obtain)
- Strong communication skills and a commitment to compassionate, adult-focused care
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in outpatient internal medicine, hospitalist work, or integrated health systems
- Comfort managing medically complex patients and multiple comorbidities
- Experience with value-based care, population health, and quality metrics
- Interest in geriatrics, preventive medicine, or chronic care program development
- Bilingual abilities aligned to patient population needs (e.g., Spanish)
- Outpatient clinic setting for adult primary care; inpatient or call responsibilities vary by employer
- Typical weekday schedule; some organizations offer extended hours or shared call models
- Team-based environment with support from nurses, MAs, care coordinators, and APPs (NP/PA)
