COMMUNICATIONS INTERNThe City of Jonesboro is seeking a motivated college student to join the Communications Department as a Communications Intern.This internship provides hands-on experience in local government communications, social media, public relations, digital media and community outreach. The Communications Intern will work alongside the City's Marketing & Community Outreach Coordinator and Digital Media Specialist to assist with day-to-day communications and special projects.The Communications Intern may assist with:Drafting social media posts, announcements and other basic communicationsCreating simple graphics and digital content for City social media platformsTaking photos and video at City events, programs and community activitiesAssisting with basic photo and video editingHelping prepare and schedule social media contentAssisting with updates to City website contentSupporting City events, community meetings and outreach activitiesHelping prepare flyers, presentations and other public information materialsResearching information for communications projectsAssisting with livestreams, public meetings and other digital media activitiesOrganizing photos, videos and other communications filesHelping track social media engagement and compile basic analyticsAssisting the Communications Department with special projects as neededAssignments will vary depending on the intern's interests, experience and the needs of the department.We are looking for a college student who is:Currently enrolled in a college or universityInterested in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing, digital media, graphic design, broadcasting, public administration or a related fieldA strong writer and communicatorFamiliar with social media and digital platformsCreative, organized, dependable and willing to learnComfortable working with a team and interacting professionally with City employees and the publicInterested in learning how communications and public information operate within local governmentExperience with photography, video editing, graphic design, social media or other digital media tools is helpful but not required.This internship offers students an opportunity to gain real-world communications experience while building a professional portfolio.Interns may have the opportunity to create content that is published on official City platforms, attend community events, assist with public information projects and learn how a municipal Communications Department serves residents, City departments and the media.The goal of the internship is to provide meaningful professional experience while allowing the student to learn from and support the City's communications team.
