ABOUT THE STUDIO

Clive Lonstein Inc. is a New York City–based multidisciplinary interior and architectural design firm

specializing in high-end residential, select commercial, and product design. The studio is composed of experienced design professionals committed to thoughtful concepts, refined

materiality, rigorous detailing, and exceptional execution. Current and recent work includes private

residences in Manhattan, the Hamptons, Palm Beach, Miami, Aspen, Los Cabos, and the Bahamas, as well as a multistory boutique development in Manhattan, a privately operated airport in Seattle, and executive offices in New York and Miami.

THE OPPORTUNITY

Clive Lonstein Inc. is seeking an Intermediate Architect to join its New York studio. The successful candidate will contribute to all phases of the architectural process—from conceptual design and design development through construction documentation, construction administration, and project completion. This role is suited to a strong designer with sound architectural judgment, excellent technical capabilities, and a genuine interest in highly detailed, custom residential work — in particular, the development of elegant, precise detailing for interior architecture and custom millwork. The Intermediate Architect will collaborate closely with the Principal, internal design team, consultants, contractors, and specialist fabricators to translate design concepts into thoroughly resolved, beautifully executed projects.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Collaborate with the Principal and project team throughout the design process.

• Contribute to concept, schematic design, design development, and client presentations.

• Produce complete, coordinated architectural drawing sets and other project deliverables.

• Take ownership of assigned tasks and deliverables, manage them independently.

• Develop elegant, precise architectural details for interior architecture and custom millwork that reflect the studio's design intent and standards, within defined project timelines.

• Research and source architectural materials, finishes, fixtures, fittings, hardware, and lighting.

• Coordinate with architects, engineers, consultants, contractors, vendors, and custom fabricators.

• Develop and coordinate architectural schedules, specifications, and procurement documentation.

• Participate in site meetings.

• Review shop drawings and submittals.

• Prepare supplemental instructions and respond to RFIs and other construction-phase inquiries.

• Assist with project installations, punch lists, and closeout.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Professional degree in Architecture or Interior Architecture.

• Minimum of three years of relevant professional experience; experience with high-end residential

projects is strongly preferred.

• Demonstrated experience working across concept design, design development, construction

documentation, and construction administration.

• Strong architectural drafting, detailing, and technical coordination skills, with demonstrated ability to

develop elegant, well-resolved detailing for interior architecture and custom millwork.

• A sophisticated design sensibility and a strong interest in fine materials, finishes, and craftsmanship.

• Ability to interpret design direction and develop it into accurate, coordinated documentation.

• Excellent collaborator with strong organization, communication, and time-management skills;

understands that accuracy and refinement are essential in every aspect of the work, not just the final

product.

• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a collaborative, fast-paced studio environment.

• Proactive, detail-oriented, and accountable working style.

SOFTWARE PROFICIENCY

• AutoCAD

• Adobe Creative Suite

• Microsoft Office Suite

• Proficiency in one or more 3D modeling and rendering platforms, including SketchUp, Rhino, 3ds Max, and V-Ray

PORTFOLIO REQUIREMENTS

Candidates should submit a résumé and portfolio demonstrating:

• Design sensibility and conceptual thinking

• Architectural drawing and detailing capabilities

• Experience producing construction documents

• Understanding of materials, finishes, and custom fabrication

• Clear demonstration of individual responsibilities and specific contributions to each featured project
