Interim Tax ManagerThe Interim Tax Manager provides leadership and oversight of tax operations on a contract basis, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations during periods of transition or increased demand. This role manages tax planning, preparation, and filing activities, while implementing process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy. The Interim Tax Manager prepares tax returns, supports audits, and provides expertise in tax research and analysis.
This position serves as a key resource for tax strategy, risk management, and decision support, helping organizations maintain compliance and optimize their tax position.The schedule for this role is sporadic and fluctuating, based on organizational needs.Job Duties:Manages preparation and review of federal, state, and local tax returnsOversees tax planning and compliance activitiesConducts tax research and analysis to support organizational decision-makingEnsures compliance with all applicable tax laws and regulationsCoordinates and supports tax audits and responses to tax authoritiesPrepares and reviews tax provisions and related financial statement disclosuresIdentifies and implements process improvements to enhance tax efficiency and accuracyMaintains accurate tax records and documentationCommunicates tax information and recommendations to organizational leadershipSupports transition and training for incoming tax leadershipOther duties as requiredQualifications, Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesEducation:Bachelor's degree in Accounting, requiredMaster's degree in Taxation or Accounting, preferredExperience:Five (5) or more years of progressive tax experience, requiredTwo (2) or more years in a tax management role, requiredExperience in public accounting or professional services, preferredExperience with interim or contract tax assignments, preferredLicense/Certification:CPA, requiredSoftware:Proficiency in tax preparation and research software (e.g., CCH Axcess, Thomson Reuters, GoSystem), requiredProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, requiredLanguage:N/AOther Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:Strong analytical and problem-solving skillsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAbility to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlinesHigh attention to detail and accuracyAbility to adapt quickly to changing organizational needs and environmentsDemonstrates professionalism and integrity in all interactionsKnowledge of current tax laws, regulations, and compliance requirementsIndividual salaries that are offered to a candidate are determined after consideration of numerous factors including but not limited to the candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, and geography.National Range: $75.00/hr - $105.00/hr Maryland Range: $75.00/hr - $105.00/hr NYC/Long Island/Westchester Range: $75.00/hr - $105.00/hr
