The Interim Executive Leadership for physician compensation provides Executive Leadership leadership and stabilization of physician compensation and funds flow within a complex Academic Medical Center or integrated health system. This role serves as the single point of accountability for compensation strategy, financial alignment, governance, compliance, and reporting infrastructure.
Location: Onsite (first 45 days) to Hybrid/Remote
Key Responsibilities & Deliverables
- Conduct a 30–45 day assessment of physician compensation plans and funds flow structures; identify regulatory risk, financial misalignment, and governance gaps; deliver a prioritized stabilization roadmap.
- Refine physician and faculty compensation models (wRVU, hybrid, value-based) to align with enterprise growth, service line strategy, and evolving reimbursement models.
- Redesign and implement a transparent, strategically aligned funds flow methodology supporting clinical, research, and academic missions.
- Strengthen governance, financial discipline, and accountability across departments and business units.
- Enhance productivity tracking, value-based metric integration, and reporting processes to ensure data integrity and accurate compensation calculations.
- Develop Executive Leadership dashboards and Board-level reporting to support enterprise decision-making.
- Provide day-to-day leadership of the physician compensation team, including plan administration, service line modeling, and physician offer development.
- Ensure compliance with Stark, FMV, and regulatory requirements while maintaining strong internal controls and risk mitigation practices.
- Deliver structured status reports (bi-weekly/monthly) outlining progress, risks, and barriers.
- At 90 days, present sustainability recommendations, organizational structure guidance, and a transition plan for permanent leadership.
