Interim Executive Director

Scion Nonprofit Staffing has been engaged to conduct a search for an Interim Executive Director for a mission-driven nonprofit organization.

This is an onsite opportunity in Northern California.

POSITION OVERVIEW

This executive leadership opportunity is ideal for a collaborative and compassionate leader who is passionate about supporting mission-driven programs and organizational excellence. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Interim Executive Director will provide strategic and operational leadership, oversee program quality and compliance, and support a multidisciplinary leadership team through a period of transition. This individual will play a key role in fostering a positive culture, maintaining operational continuity, and ensuring exceptional service delivery.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide executive leadership for organizational operations, program delivery, and cross-functional teams.
• Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory, licensing, documentation, and quality standards.
• Lead, coach, and develop managers while fostering a collaborative, accountable, and mission-focused culture.
• Drive program improvements, operational efficiencies, and continuous quality initiatives.
• Build and maintain productive relationships with key stakeholders, community partners, and oversight agencies.
• Partner with the Board of Directors to support organizational stability, strategic priorities, and operational success.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Executive leadership experience within healthcare, substance use treatment, or human services environment.
• Strong understanding of regulations, compliance requirements, and licensing standards.
• Proven success leading multidisciplinary teams while building trust and strong working relationships.
• Excellent communication, leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills with a collaborative management style.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

• This interim opportunity offers $65/hr - $70/hr.
• Health benefits are available through Scion Staffing after 30 days of employment.
• A hybrid schedule may be available following onboarding based on organizational needs.
