Interim Accountant

Position: Accountant / Accounting Consultant

Duration: 3 Month contract with extensions

Location: Grand Rapids or Phoenix preferred open to St Pete as last resort

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Senior Accountant or Accounting Consultant to provide interim support directly to the Corporate Controller through year-end.

This individual will assist with day-to-day accounting operations, month-end close activities, and the development and documentation of corporate accounting policies and internal controls.

The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in general ledger accounting, experience working in a public company environment, and the ability to operate independently in a fast-paced setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the Corporate Controller with daily accounting activities and transactional accounting responsibilities.
• Prepare, review, and post journal entries.
• Assist with month-end close, account reconciliations, and general ledger activities.
• Develop, document, and formalize corporate accounting policies and procedures.
• Assist with implementing and strengthening internal accounting controls.
• Support accounting processes to ensure compliance with established policies and procedures.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting workflows, documentation, and internal controls.
• Provide additional hands-on accounting support as needed through year-end.

Required Qualifications

• Strong general ledger accounting experience, including journal entries and month-end close.
• Experience developing, documenting, or implementing accounting policies and procedures.
• Experience supporting internal control implementation or improvements.
• Prior accounting experience within a publicly traded company.
• Strong understanding of GAAP accounting principles.
• Ability to work independently and directly support senior accounting leadership.
• Comfortable balancing transactional accounting responsibilities with process improvement initiatives.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with SOX controls or public company compliance requirements.
• Previous experience supporting a Corporate Controller.
• Prior interim, consulting, or contract accounting experience.
• Experience implementing or improving accounting processes during periods of organizational change.

Ideal Candidate

A well-rounded accounting professional who can roll up their sleeves to handle journal entries and month-end close while also helping the Controller build stronger accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.

This is a hands-on accounting role, not solely a policy development or compliance position.
