Houston Methodist Specialty Physician Group is seeking a dedicated intensivist to join their team at Houston Methodist Willowbrook Hospital. This role involves providing comprehensive critical care to a diverse patient population in a high-acuity multidisciplinary ICU. The intensivist will collaborate with a wide range of healthcare professionals to deliver evidence-based, patient-centered care in a supportive environment.

  • The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Houston Methodist Willowbrook Hospital is a high-acuity multidisciplinary unit.
  • The ICU provides comprehensive care for critically ill medical and surgical patients.
  • The ICU cares for a diverse patient population with complex critical illnesses including sepsis, respiratory failure, shock, multisystem organ failure, post-operative surgical patients, and other acute medical conditions.
  • Intensivists work closely with hospitalists, surgeons, subspecialists, nursing staff, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and advanced practice providers.
  • The ICU is supported by advanced practice providers and multidisciplinary ancillary teams.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver evidence-based, multidisciplinary care to critically ill patients.
  • Manage critically ill patients, including ventilator management, airway management, bedside procedures, and hemodynamic monitoring.
  • Treat complex multisystem disease processes.
  • Educate and mentor medical students, residents, advanced practice providers, and nursing staff when applicable.

Requirements

  • American Board of Internal Medicine certified or board eligible in Critical Care Medicine.
  • Expertise in the management of critically ill patients.
  • Experience with bronchoscopy, central venous catheter placement, arterial line placement, and point-of-care ultrasound is preferred.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to quality, patient safety, and teamwork.
  • Interest in the education and mentorship of medical students, residents, advanced practice providers, and nursing staff when applicable.
