A law firm seeks an experienced Intellectual Property Partner in Albany, NY. This role involves leading patent and trademark matters, providing strategic counsel, and fostering practice growth within the Intellectual Property Practice Group. The position serves clients across various industries, including technology, manufacturing, and healthcare.

Duties

• Lead U.S. and foreign patent prosecution and portfolio strategy.
• Conduct infringement, validity, and patentability analysis.
• Advise on global IP strategy, including forecasting and budgeting.
• Negotiate IP licensing and cross-border transactions.
• Counsel on trademark protection and enforcement.
• Handle patent and trademark litigation in federal courts.
• Lead IP due diligence in mergers and acquisitions.
• Develop client relationships and support practice growth.
• Supervise and mentor associates and paralegals.
• Stay current through CLE and IP bar involvement.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor and admission to the New York State Bar.
• USPTO registration.
• Engineering or hard science degree, ideally mechanical or industrial.
• 10+ years in patent prosecution, transactions, and litigation.
• Admission, or eligibility, to relevant federal courts.
• Proven leadership and client relationship skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
• Entrepreneurial mindset and proactive client development.
