Responsibilities of this component include, but are not limited to:* Conduct through patient evaluations, including detailed health histories, physical examinations, and advanced diagnostic testing to assess overall health status and identify underlying causes of disease* Develop personalized, evidence-based treatment plans that integrate conventional medicine with complementary approaches such as nutrition, exercise, stress management, sleep optimization, and lifestyle modification* Diagnose and manage patients with chronic illnesses, including heart disease, metabolic disorders, autoimmune conditions, and other complex health issues* Provide patient education regarding their conditions and treatment options, empowering patients to make informed decisions about their health* Adapt treatment plans based on individual patient needs, goals, and response to interventions, demonstrating flexibility in clinical decision-making* Maintain comprehensive, up-to-date patient records to ensure continuity of care and optimal patient outcomes.* Collaborate with other healthcare providers and clinical support staff to deliver integrated, coordinated care* Practice Functional Medicine and lead the development of an integrative primary care service line* Develop clinical protocols and evidence-based guidelines for the integrative primary care service line with the design of a financial model that can be sustainable over time* Design and implement comprehensive patient assessment and treatment frameworks that combine functional medicine principles with conventional medical standards* Manage administrative tasks, including scheduling, patient record management, and communication with patients and referring providers* Oversee quality assurance and patient satisfaction metrics for the new service line* Participate in staff training and education to ensure consistent delivery of functional medicine principles across the team* Collaborate with center leadership to establish operational procedures, resource allocation, and strategic goals for service line growth* Contribute to research, quality improvement initiatives, and outcomes tracking to demonstrate the effectiveness of integrative primary care* Mentor clinical and administrative staff in functional medicine approaches and best practices* MD, DO, or equivalent degree* License/license-eligible in the state of Ohio* Board Certification in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine* Certification in Functional Medicine (IFMCP)* Minimum 3+ years of clinical experience in primary care or related field* Strong foundation in conventional medicine with demonstrated understanding of diagnostic and treatment protocols* Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging leaders, coworkers, direct reports, and patients with professionalism and clarity.* Demonstrated ability to promote collaboration and achieve results within interdisciplinary teams.* Qualify for a minimum of an academic appointment at the assistant or associate professor level- Academic rank and salary will be commensurate with previous training and experience* Experience in developing new clinical service lines or programs* Background in integrative or holistic medicine approaches* Experience utilizing electronic health record (EHR) systems to support clinical workflows and documentation* Demonstrated commitment to continuous medical education and maintaining up-to-date knowledge of functional medicine research and best practices* Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor teams within a collaborative, cross-disciplinary environment* Experience in an academic medical center preferredAs required by Ohio Revised Code section , Ohio State will: educate students by means of free, open and rigorous intellectual inquiry to seek the truth; equip students with the opportunity to develop intellectual skills to reach their own, informed conclusions; not require, favor, disfavor or prohibit speech or lawful assembly; create a community dedicated to an ethic of civil and free inquiry, which respects the autonomy of each member, supports individual capacities for growth and tolerates differences in opinion; treat all faculty, staff and students as individuals, hold them to equal standards and provide equality of opportunity with regard to race, ethnicity, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression.**Each day, Buckeyes across the state and around the world make a lasting impact.** The Ohio State University sets the stage for academic achievement and innovation.
