Base Salary Range: $ 82,000-105,000

A day in the life of an Integration Engineer HL7 FHIR

The Integration Engineer is s responsible for determining relevant tasks, dependencies, and resources for assigned projects. The Project Manager works with hospitals, eligible providers' offices, and other organizations to share health care data, helps assemble tasks into project plans that assign objectives, timelines, and responsible parties, oversees the technology installation process, assures necessary training and support are available, and covers all aspects of project planning and execution.

Essential Functions of the Integration Engineer HL7 FHIR

• Develops, implements, and supports FHIR R4/R6 resources, profiles and extensions in accordance with applicable healthcare interoperability standards
• Develops and maintains FHIR implementation guides, profiles, StructureDefinitions, ValueSets, CodeSystems, and Capability Statements
• Performs FHIR resource validation and conformance testing to ensure interoperability with external systems and trading partners
• Translates clinical and business requirements into FHIR data models, API specifications, interface workflows, and technical solutions
• Provides technical mentorship and guidance to integration engineers and other technical staff on FHIR development, healthcare interoperability, API design, and integration best practices
• Monitors and triages integration engine and SQL databases for performance, alerts, errors and queues
• Develops, and implements FHIR-based REST APIs including resource interactions, search parameters, bundles and custom FHIR operations
• Provides expertise and guides the appropriate use of best practices for clinical FHIR interface processes
• Troubleshoots interface failures, data-mapping problems, and production issues
• Utilizes integration platform software to accomplish most FHIR interface needs
• Develops and implements procedures and documentation for data validation
• Monitors the HIE environment for interface related issues and assist in diagnosing integration issues
• Ensures integrations comply with KONZA's data standards for completeness and data quality
• Leads the end-to-end implementation of FHIR integrations
• Maintains Rhapsody Integration Engine environments

Integration Engineer HL7 FHIR Qualifications: (Knowledge, Skill, and Ability)

• Required: Bachelor's in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a similar relevant degree
• Minimum of three plus (3+) years with healthcare interoperability, healthcare integration, or health IT
• Expertise in: FHIR (R4) and RESTful API design, HL7 v2, OAuth2 workflows, and token-based authentication.
• Experience with Microsoft SQL
• Experience with REST APIs, JSON, XML, and integration technologies.
• Preferred experience with current Interface Engines - EG: Corepoint, Rhapsody
• Experience implementing or supporting FHIR repositories - EG: Aidbox, HAPI FHIR, Smile CDR, Firely Server
• Understanding of current trends in Healthcare Interoperability - HL7, V2, CCDA, Web Services, HL7 V3, HIE concepts, FHIR and experience in interface development environment
• Experience building HL7 FHIR interfaces from concept to design, build, test, implementation, and support
• Experience using API testing and validation tools - EG: Postman, Bruno
• Ability to work well in a fast-paced culture
• Ability to multi-task and handle multiple parallel projects
• Ability to work well with others (be a team player) and to work independently with little direction
• Able to prioritize work according to deadlines and organizational initiatives to produce assigned outcomes
