Responsibilities

  • Lead the administration of workers’ compensation, disability benefits, and leave programs, ensuring compliance with legal requirements and alignment with company policies.
  • Define departmental objectives and work plans to support integrated disability and absence management strategies across the organization.
  • Monitor legislative changes at the federal, state, and local levels and ensure timely updates to programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Manage vendor relationships and support the selection of service providers to ensure program effectiveness and cost efficiency.
  • Guide subordinate managers and staff in identifying and implementing process improvements using technology and vendor capabilities.
  • Oversee the development and execution of program performance standards, including audits, financial analysis, and customer feedback mechanisms.
  • Analyze trends, budgeting impacts, and future liabilities related to disability and absence programs, and contribute to long‑term forecasting.
  • Communicate program performance, audit findings, and strategic recommendations to executive leadership to support decision‑making and policy development.
  • Protect the company’s physical, financial, and cybersecurity assets and manage private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other highly sensitive information with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Five or more years of supervising a team of direct reports and/or managing projects.
  • Experience with employee benefits and leave programs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in business or human resources.
  • Five years’ experience in Disability Management, including work with employee benefits and leave programs such as ADA, FMLA, CFRA, PDL, workers’ compensation, and other federal and California employment laws and regulations.
  • Experience in managing third‑party administrators.
  • CA workers’ compensation self‑insurance certificate.

Additional Information

  • This position’s work mode is hybrid . The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to work and reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.

  • Position will require up to 20% traveling and being out in the field throughout the SCE service territory.
