Role Description The Integrated Design Engineering Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Houston, TX, responsible for leading cross-disciplinary design efforts for rugged computing products. This role oversees teams in electrical, mechanical, and analog design engineering to ensure integrated solutions meet performance, reliability, and compliance requirements. Day-to-day activities include managing engineering project plans, coordinating design reviews, resolving technical issues, and guiding the translation of system requirements into detailed designs. The manager collaborates with product management, manufacturing, quality, and customers to align design intent with mission needs, improve design processes, and support continuous improvement across the engineering organization. This position also involves mentoring engineering talent, maintaining documentation standards, and ensuring on-time, high-quality delivery of engineered solutions.
Qualifications
- Strong integrated design engineering skills, including Design Engineering and Electrical Engineering, with experience creating cohesive, system-level solutions.
- Proven Engineering Management capabilities, including team leadership, project oversight, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Hands-on expertise in Analog and related circuit design, with the ability to guide trade-offs in performance, reliability, and cost.
- Practical Mechanical Engineering skills for ruggedized enclosures, thermal management, and structural integrity in demanding environments.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Experience with product development lifecycles, from requirements and prototyping through validation, production, and sustainment.
- Familiarity with relevant industry standards and regulatory requirements for rugged or mission-critical computing systems.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple projects and priorities.
- Experience with CAD/CAE tools, PCB design software, and configuration management systems is highly beneficial.
- Background in defense, industrial, or other high-reliability sectors is a plus.
